Zubin Mehta, is one of the greats, his humility and honesty are infectious, the young conductors of today can learn much from a man of his musicality and his wisdom of conducting.

So rare to see Philanthropy amongst Indians. $100,000 per year in the sixties is a lot of money. He chooses to buy instruments for the orchestra. Such is the man, his passion Mr Zubin Mehta.

I only have a superficial understanding of the nuances of western Classical music. The Mastreo comes across as a refreshing human being, and what he shares would be for the betterment of any human individual. I could feel the passion when he speaks about pieces he loves playing. His enthusiasm is like that of a music fan and it is infectuous. Namaskar to Zubin!!

A wonderful conductor who I worked with many years ago at Covent Garden. We did Tristan, Othello, Salome, Fancuilla del West and Die Fledermaus. He made difficult scores like Tristan easy to play such is his mastery. His rehearsal method no nonsense and his personality with a natural human warmth. Playing for him was a very happy time in my musical life.

A lovely interview - of a Conductor by a Musician. It was amazing to hear of him speak so candidly of his own mistakes. I had seen and heard Mehta conduct a symphony a few decades back, but never knew its import then.

What is amazing is that Mehta has lived in the west for most of his life and still has a Bombay Parsi accent...terrific isn't it
