In the world of classical music, there are few conductors who are as well regarded as Zubin Mehta. He has led the world's best orchestras, but he is most closely identified with the Israel Philharmonic.

I love how stinking AlJazeera keeps trying to make Maestro Mehta to say things against Israel, and he avoids their traps. Most significantly, AlJazeera insists on calling Israeli Arabs 'Palestinians', Zubin doesn't fall into that trap. And then he talks about Israeli humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Syria. Bravo, Maestro!

A true man of culture, a true humanitarian, and a true citizen of the world. If only our "leaders" were more like that.

Not only Winton Marsalis revived Jazz, but singers like Diana Kroll, and many jazz performers we didn’t hear of before, but now we are familiar with them, thanks to emedia, such as Spotify, KZbin etc. I just started to familiarize with an incredible Russian composer and performer Kapustin, who united Classical style with Jazz! What a thrill! Now most of famous pianists are playing his music along with traditional classical repertoire. The best of them- Frank Dupree, who not only plays Kapustin, Beethoven, Brahms, but also conducts! Something to be in awe.

I was thrilled to hear Zubin Mehta say that he's a fan of jazz (or at least was in his youth) and how much he enjoyed Wynton Marsalis et al. perform! I grew up hearing nothing but jazz (Dad) and classical (Mom) at home until I was in junior high, so to know that Mehta also loves jazz is very cool. Gotta say, though, I didn't enjoy the interviewer's style, though.

I came to Jazz after my classical music education. I needed the grounding to fully appreciate what jazz musicians do.

I totally agree with you on the lack of sensitivity of the interviewer. He tried to corner Metha into admission of Israeli sympathy. What a prick. During his interview he had a smirk on his face. Did he listened Metha? I don’t think so.

Al Jazeera guy should not bring politics to a cultural interview. That is mean and Haram . I despise Al Jazeera for this mean behavior.
