Le travail qu'il a réalisé sur ce bloc est fou ! Au delà du physique, il a atteint un niveau mental incroyable pour rester concentré. C'est au delà de l'obsessionnel je pense. Incroyable grimpeur. Salut bonne interview mais il y a un truc qui me laisse dans le doute. "Burden of dreams" est le premier 9A à partir de quelle année car j'ai vu deux bloc proposant cette cotation:La Force au toit d'Orsay et Pontas. Est ce que vous pouvez m'éclairer un petit peu s'il vous plaît ?

Salut, ce ne sont pas à proprement parler des blocs. Pour La Force, Alban a proposé un 9a cotation voie car c'est trop long pour être considéré bloc (30aine de mouvs). Et pour Pontas, si tu veux parler de Es Pontas c'est une voie d'environ 20m en deep water solo.

Why is v17 just another number and 9a mythical, as they are both equivalent? I don’t quite get the v17 grading I suppose.. :)

I think he's pointing out the subjectivity of it, but the fact that "9A" opens up an entirely new grade number for the scale (since the next grades below it are letters 8C+, 8C, 8B+, etc.) makes it seem like a bigger deal than just going from v16 to v17. It's just perception. Kind of like in sport climbing the difference between 5.15d and 5.16a is a much bigger deal than 5.15c to 5.15d, and by the same token 9C to 9C+ grade in French sport grading seems less impressive than 5.15d to 5.16a. Even at the amateur level I'm climbing, to me it's a bigger deal for me to send a 5.12a than it is a 5.11d, simply because of the number grade. Kind of silly, arbitrary, and totally subjective, but these things matter to a lot of climbers. ha.

v17 and 9a are equivalent grades, the only reason 9a is 'mythical' is due to the long wait before a 9a boulder was established. But they are the same grade.

@@wh0ei All elite level boulders before Burden fit within the '8' Font grade. Breaking out of the '8' grade range is huge. This would be sort of like establishing the first double digit boulder in America, V10. Or maybe like establishing the first V20 in America. As Garcon said, it's all about perception and categories.
