Dr Winter is actually drinking a cup of tea in a porcelain cup. How much more quintessentially English can a man be! InshaAllah Islam will be as seamlessly comfortable in England as is the union of Islam and Anglicism in this man!
@unkownguy67088 жыл бұрын
Not really the union of Islam and Anglicanism, Islam does not reject the majority of English culture, so more of Islam and English culture. Islam does not adapt for a culture or person, the culture must adapt for Islam.
@user-yx2uw6lh7d7 жыл бұрын
It doesnt adapt for culture, it rather embraces it. Though from that perspective your statement is true. Whatever Islam deems as accultic it abrogates.

Only 50 years back (which is not a terribly long time in historical terms), Christians considered Elvis Presley and rock 'n roll music to be Satanic and the slippery slope towards hell. (They were arguably right) It's because we're desensitized to obscenity and vulgarity that we think nothing of some guy grabbing his balls on stage in front of thousands of kids. But to Muslims, it's a bit weird, to say the very least . Michael's older brother, Jermaine, is a Muslim, btw.

- Adamic potential of a human being, via the fitrah, and the Prophetic narrative- much more important to focus on than traditional Islamic knowledge seeking vs + modern methods - Education best sought holistically, through osmosis, 'metabolizing' or synthesizing the adab as well as knowledge, the sulook of the pious and the knowledgeable - buddy system of al Azhar abolished by Nasser- lamentably, says Dr Murad (Winter) - teaching a youth was like a process of carving out a sculpture- it was/can be a process of total moulding, a psychological, formative process- character building just as important if not more so than the theory/knowledge - making the most of the gifts Allah gives us is a right on ourselves and a right to the rest of the community, as well as to humanity- this is not necessarily being a scholar, however noble that path is, and beneficial to the masses- other experts are needed such as doctors, engineers and during the time of the Prophet for example Khalid ibn al Walid was a military commander of great significance and acclaim

Correction: it's "revert", not "convert". Why? Because it is narrated in Sahih Muslim (Book 033, Hadith No. 6426) by Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "Every child is born in a state of "Fitrah" (i.e. Muslim), then his parents make him a Jew, or a Christian or a Polytheist." So, they were Muslims then Christians then became Muslims again. Unfortunately, many people use the word "convert". So, it's just a matter of educating as you spot the same mistake made by others I guess.

Although Shaykh Hamza himself has said he doesn't like that word, revert--because of his reading of that very hadith. In the end, it's just semantics. I don't like to say revert either. I think it sounds silly. But lots of others do, so I say take people's words in the spirit in which they are intended =)

There's no comparing obscenities like crotch-grabbing to famine, war, etc. But you asked why Muslims might be offended by things such as crotch-grabbing, so I explained it. Yes, it is about how you define things and, in this regard, I think there is a large, large, perhaps unbridgeable gap between Muslims and non-Muslims today. If however I was talking to your grandfather or grandmother, I suspect there would be less of a gap in understanding on these issues.

He was "shocked" by "the madness of young people listening to Michael Jackson"? Could any Muslim in agreement with this (to me, seemingly inconsequential activity) being 'shocking' explain why?

+experience23 'Fitrah' does not mean Muslim! Muslim is based on saying the shahada. New born babies can't speak. If Muslim was meant then Muslim would have been said. If you know Arabic well you wouldn't have made such a claim!
@Paco6198 жыл бұрын
nobody said fitrah means Muslim, fitrah means natural state of knowing where you come from. The natural inclination to God

Muslims means to obedient to the will of God. That seems to be the natural inclination of human beings. Unless it is perverted. Even if he doesn't recognize it or knows it intentionally, there are many actions human body is performing simply as per the will of God.

I too could well have done without MJ's crotch grabbing moves but not for any moral reasons; more that it was such a cheap-shot lazy way of attention grabbing. There may be a certain desensitization toward obscenity but I suppose that depends on how you define the word. I don't think that pop music has the impact you suggest. Kids may get a cheap chuckle but I can't imagine long term harm on anyone but the troubled. I do believe the real obscenities like war, famine etc still appall everyone.

They like to hear themselves talk, mostly about scholarly issues. Sometimes they talk about things which really matter, but not enough and never with a tangible solution. Have you seen these graduates of 'Zaytuna'? They are like clones trying to imitate Hamza. It is so sad to see true spiritual seeking being co-opted by conformists like Hamza and Tim. Sorry, I just wish reverts (not converts) had better spokesmen. Please forgive me.
