Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! Royalist Town Crier Tony Appleton really is a 'real town crier'! Mr Appleton is the official town crier for both Romford, in the London Borough of Havering, and Bury St Edmunds, Norfolk, where he recently carried out the official opening of the Christmas Fayre 2017. His recently updated website clearly shows that he is, and has been, a Town Crier of 25 years standing: englishtowncriertoastmaster.co... And again we draw your kind attention to this very website, The Three Criers. The Three Criers account contains 80 videos, showing Mr Appleton steadfastly carrying out his loyal, ancient and honourable duties as the nation's foremost and probably the world's best known Town Crier. Mr Appleton's contributions to the wellbeing of the nation has, we say, been acknowledged by HM The Queen, who, during her 'Windsor Walkabout' 2016, on the occasion of her Majesty's 90th birthday, took the time to approach and question him about one of the badges on his uniform. This is clearly seen on this You Tube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlxXP... And further on this video taken minutes later in which he described their conversation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8Gwa... Mr Appleton has NOT been appointed by the Royal Family. He has never claimed to be representing the Royal Family, and, that is why he styles himself 'Royalist Crier' rather than 'Royal Crier'. The 81 year old Royal Navy veteran first saw Her Majesty when she came aboard HMS Implacable to inspect the training ship during the Spithead Review. He was 17 years of age and never imagined that so many years later, while on her 'Windsor Walkabout' that Her Majesty would actually stop and have a chat! Mr Appleton proudly wears two medals on his red uniform that he was awarded for serving Queen and Country in the Korean War and Suez Crisis. These and many other memories are meticulously recorded in his recently published autobiography 'Now or Never' which can been experienced at: www.amazon.co.uk/Now-Never-Mr... Yes, Mr Appleton does 'seek publicity' but that is the very nature of his honourable and ancient trade - it is the reason why he does not wear camouflage or cry in the back streets when making Royalist proclamations or promoting his commercial paymasters! Mr Appleton is often approached by media outlets while making proclamations and he is thrilled that his loyalist Royalist role appears to have become an emerging 'tradition' at Royal births, engagements and marriages.
