While not every encounter with law enforcement should be treated with suspicion, it's easy to notice how much effort is placed in establishing trust with whomever they are speaking.

except it's cop 101 to trust nobody and believe everyone is lying until you have actual evidence supporting the claim, because people lie to cops all the time. so you shouldn't trust them either, they will do whatever they can to second guess yourself or admit to something you didn't mean to.

I guess all the BATF agents were on sick leave the day this training film was shown, because they sure didn't use the 5 step officer friendly technique with the Branch Davidians in Waco !

That's probably because the Branch Davidians were too busy worshipping a false god.

Never EVER talk to the police. The Miranda rights are written word-for-word for a reason: Anything you say can and WILL be used against you. Never talk to the cops unless they go through your lawyer first. Which you are entitled to in the US. Demand your lawyer, over and over again. Nothing else. If they say "We'll get to that - or - It's gonna be a while". Don't buy it. Demand your lawyer, in a calm and collected voice.

nemo227 exactly...if i was that doctor, i would have reamed her for providing that information without permission from me...i would have instructed her to cooperate, but say that the doctor prefers to be onsite when people look at records

Agree. However if a person is a WITNESS, they have no Fifth Amendment protection. When anyone with government authority presents a witness with a subpoena (IF needed) that is compulsory. And what you said about demanding your lawyer (if you are a suspect) you don't even have to go that far. All you have to do is decline to speak.

This interview sounds like a law suit waiting to happen when the patients find out their medical information is being disclosed without their consent.

and the guy cleaning the gun kept it pointed directly at the customer, no gun shop owner would do that they would clean it someplace else pointed away from the store shopping area.

You called "mam" after the RAPPORT part? Maybe a 1st name would be more appropriate in the movie?

If LE actually shows up at your door no lie is going to calm people down. Sane people don't talk to them.

Lol love how they say to be honest if possible. Suggesting it's okay to lie. This is the same way confidence criminals operate. Wonder who taught who.....

Oxtoa Wolf it is 100% ok for LEOs to lie to you. They’re not your friend, they don’t care about you, they’re building a case.

Asking all these questions in the lobby and in front of a waiting patient (overhearing Everything!) Is a confidential violation of the doctor (or whoever they intended to interview). HIPPA violations all over the place!!!!!Receptionist allowing access to records without permission from patients/the doctor? Seriously!!!!

Introduction = Identify yourself as Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and everyone being interviewed is guilty so start sweating bullets. Rapport = Tell everyone they are going to be interrogated and if they don't cooperate completely they will go to jail or worse. Questioning = Ask any and all questions including sex habits, laws and crimes broken, then accuse them of any known crime. Summary = Hand-cuff, arrest, and jail the guilty without explanation and without being Mirandized. You can make up anything later. Close = Make up any story that fits the events of a known crime. Every crime, real or imaginary, needs some one to pin it on. Soon LEOs can bypass the judicial system and summarily execute people for any reason to keep America a safe place to live. How will America spell freedom? NAZI?
