I’ve read somebody refer to Linda as “the queen of the scene” and that’s pretty perfect. She was an alpha in that SoCal country/rock/blues scene. And she got there being herself.

Johan Smallberries The new documentary film “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice” is a must see. She talks about how much she doubted herself as a singer. It took a while before she felt like the “queen of the scene.” I love everything I ever heard her sing. She was such a powerful role model for female musicians, as well.

Absolutely, Linda Ronstadt should be in the Rock and roll hall of fame! She was in the Stone Ponys in the 1960s that had the hit "Different drum", and endless other top 40 hits as a solo artist in the 70s and 80s. Sometimes I just really don't understand the RRHOF. There are all kinds of bands and artists already inducted that lack any real talent, and then there are artists like Linda Ronstadt that are forgotten about. Makes no sense at all. 😒 ❤Linda Ronstadt❤

@@honour123 - I liked his "Thank You" speech best; although I liked Steve Miller's and Eddie Vedder's remarks as well. If you read "Sticky Fingers," the book about Jann Wenner, you'll find that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was Wenner's idea, and the uneven and often unfair selections have his feel to them; he was very partial to the Eagles and the Rolling Stones and didn't care for progressive rock or metal when they were popular, which unfairly skewed the music taste of millions in the US, because his magazine was the only one of it's kind for a long time. But his uncaring snubs went on for long periods, to ridiculous extremes. And he sold it a while back, so he can say it's not his fault - but I blame him for his snubs of Deep Purple and Yes until the founding member died, a pretty shitty move that I always remember when I see anything about him, his magazine or the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's a rich jerk. I am glad that he hooked me up with Hunter Thompson and Matt Taibbi, but his magazine blows now, another thing ruined by the love of money. Fortune passes everywhere.

Linda was the first female soloist to pack arenas to the rafters in the U.S. I give Janis her props but in her short career she played festival venues that had multiple bands. Linda on her standing, on her own singular voice filled the airways and concert arenas. I saw her in concert in ‘77, the height of her rock and roll vocal powers. When she moved onto other genres she was further hailed as the best, most versatile singer ever. The two Trio album’s she made with Dolly and Emmy Lou are legendary. If angels sang they would sound like Trio. Linda was plain brilliant.
@BonnChnd
@BonnChnd 3 жыл бұрын
@@DavidSmith-ss1cg you are spot on about Jann Wenner. He makes me sick. He ruined the magazine he started by putting everyone who WASN’T a singer on the cover. He has put Springsteen on the cover at least 20 times. He put disco, reggae and standard country music stars in the Hall before many more deserving solo artists and bands. Jann is not a class act, he’s not a nice person and now he very thankfully, has no influence.

Such talented guys, but say what you want Frey died of anger. He was SO angered and had SUCH hatred for Felder that watching the documentary is hard to watch knowing he's dying in just a few years hence. All Felder did was sign a GOOD contract, something Henley was actually the HEAD OF THE ORGANIZATION for (making others keep their contracts!)and when he called them on it they flipped out and Frey actually says Felder was trying to take food ouot of his kids' mouths (I LOVE that Felder looks so good and is so happy) and both their hypocrisy is incredible. First, they fathom themselves "environmentalists"and to borrow a Don Scamley term HE uses here, sanctimonious, guys who ride in limos, large SUV's, have fleets of jet fuel guzzling airplanes, own MANY homes and properties (while homeless camp in the Malibu Hills down from them) that have massive carbon footprints (we could ALWAYS argue why does ANYONE HAVE TO HAVE more than one home? Why?....even Bernie Sanders someone they idolized was buying ANOTHER, not "a"..... but another, vacation home last year!) They profess to HATE the rich, while Henley is one of the most ruthless, vilest people when it comes to "his" money.....the irony is that socialism is about the collective, not the individual, .....but you liarbel democRATs will never ever get that socialism is for the minions, those LOWER then the Henleys, and the Freys, and the Sanders, and the Jimmy Kimmels, and Clintons, and the obamas...ie, all of YOU. The socialists don't practice what they preach. I hope you try to run that knucklehead ocasio-cortez against Trump, she is dumb as an ox, is getting richer every second, wears expensive clothes, has apartments paid for by YOU, and they all cloak it under this "fighting for the little guy umbrella. Frey died of anger and hatred.

@@DJ-bj8ku right. We have to make sure we have those squiggly lightbulbs (hey, maybe you can answer why, when we got them, they were supposed to last way LONGER, BUT now they do not barely last at all and the internal components are WORSE for the environment, but they can't be recycled and I have to throw mine in the regular trash, how come? You don't think the democRATS pulled another "Keep your doctor!" scam on us do you?.......of course you don't.....). You are a typical Don Scamley liarbel democRAT. Because you SAY you care about the environment (I'd bet anything you neither have an electric vehicle nor solar panels in your home - yeah yeah, I know it's okay to lie if it benefits your cause, that good honest nevada mormon Scary Reid said so - so save your breath, I know you don't. But so long as you SAY it, your validated and like henley the homeless can starve in the very Malibu Hills they live in or have second or third homes in (but hate the rich right?) and as a paramedic I have taken care of these very people back in the day and I actually gave them my cash once in a while when I had it on me so they'd have a meal. But that's the difference between us - we republiCANS actually DO, while you SAY, and you bask in your liberal dosayedness therefor it is, while we ACT, and DO, and get our hands dirty. But you're right, starving kids vs save the whales.......we have to save the whales of course

@@DJ-bj8ku They ARE not socialist programs knucklehead, and in socialist countries it is the governments money in their eyes and you're not getting back what you put in, they simply TAKE from you. Only in the democRATS eyes in the US is it viewed as money that THEY the Nancy Pelosis and Obamas get to to use. In our country we are putting in OUR money (granted it was a program done before I was born) and we get back according to what we put in. You are right in that your team THINKS it's their money to do with what they want, and YOU want socialism, but not me. And your damn right I am taking it, because it's MINE, not yours. I am not one of those sandal wearing pot smoking liarbles who somehow have all these days off to take buses to rallies and protests and such.I work and I work hard and even though I didn't graduate high school I did go to med school eventually and I put in a heck of a lot more than the average joe. But I also pull more than 40 hours a week, I then can't go to the grocery store without someone having a question about their pain pills, and I have to plan an extra half hour when I go to wal mart so when people recognize me they can ask me medical questions over and over. And I know in this poor town I live in they, especially minorities, view me as "rich" because so many don't work and have "disabilities" (it should REALLY be called and coded as "DISAMBITIONISM") and somehow they THINK, probably like you, that those who do well just were given it somehow because I am WHITE male. No freakin way. It was hard work all the way. So YES when I retire I want MY MONEY back the dems think they have a right to
@jlkbbk2003

@@DJ-bj8ku Ok. You're obviously deficient somewhere but when all you watch is cnn, that's what it is. SS is not SUPPOSED to be redistribution, but you dems see other peoples money as your own and spend it. IT was EXACTLY meant as a retirement program LIKE A 401 K, but the dems figured you would 't live long enough to spend it and their greedy eyes and grubby hands could not wait to get to it. It wasn't MEANT to be a program for the self-proclaimed community activists who do nothing to add to society, and who never have any meaningful work and then suddenly get to 65 and feel they deserve everyone else should take care of them. But this is typical liberal thinking. Your money is YOUR money and my money is YOUR money. You're not supposed to use SS for whatever you want, but it was the dems who decided they "deserved" that money. Democratic ideals are bizarre - you'll show up in droves to a courthouse to protest a guy who beat a dog, but not one single person shows up to the same courthouse when a little girl was abused by a school teacher. long as the dem politicians can retain THEIR golden pulpits. Taxes are a part of any society and a necessity. Taxes are not socialism smartypants, taxes are as much a part of a republic.
