My interview went completely different than what i was expecting. it was actually more of a friendly conversation than an interview which was great because i was feeling quite nervous but i got a letter back from the company offering me the position and was really delighted

I went for a fitness gym instructor apprenticeship. Before I went, I researched the company, how many people attend the gym and what they provide. I also brough my CV, which was two pages long, with all my certificates. The very next day they gave me the job, best feeling ever.

Why do prospective employers not show the candidates around the factory on the first interview? Likely being straight from school or college showing them the environment they will be working in will surely be a great opener to the interview.

This is the main reason I don’t think i can be an electrician. I can’t handle the interview. I know that sounds crazy to most people but I’m just a waaaay too nervous person. I never had a job interview in my life. I know I will freak out. My job I have now I never had an interview. (I work with birds. Parrots mostly) it’s a great fun job and I never want to leave it but it’s only 11 an hour. I don’t see any other options. And therapy isn’t working. I guess I’m screwed

Fact;whether you think you are oor not...you are right. If I offered you £100k cash to be able to attend an interview in two months youd find the people to help. Go find an acting coach. make it happen. £100k is 4 years' wages...make it a reality Anthony.

Could you please give some advice on the best way to approach electrical companies in order to obtain an interview for an apprenticeship in the first place especially if there are no positions being advertised publicly Thankyou.
@rhondaw19 жыл бұрын
Hi Was successful in gaining an interview and now working casual until beginning an electrical apprenticeship in Jan 15. I emailed every electrical company I could find in the yellow pages in my area with a cover letter, and link to my resume and also rang every company in my area. I received 2 work trials and 5 call back after Christmas out of it. Well Worth the effort
@danddiversified84779 жыл бұрын
I'm going in for my interview today. Just show them that you want to work , you want to learn, and you want to help them build a better company. Do you have electrical training? It would be a big help.
@rhondaw19 жыл бұрын
Started apprenticeship 2015 - It did help that I studied the right subjects at school, completed an electrical pre ap course and done work placements in electrical -I emailed my application and resume just at the right time, to the company I am with now. I also wore neat casual (shirt/dark pants) hair cut and shave before interview.

Hey Jon, research the company REALLY well, try to find out as much about the job BEFORE you turn up, talk to local companies and just say you're interested in their kind of work, what does it entail. Have your questions ready to ask THEM in a hardback book. Go through them with a friend. Phone OFF. Be early. If you like it, just simply ask for the job. Smile. PHONE OFF...best wishes Graham

@TheRecruitmentGuy6 жыл бұрын
Yes Haffy, some companies do. Sadly the number of NEW apprenticeships offer dropped by 30% in 2017 compared to 2016! Research, make contact with companies and offer YOURSELF as an apprentice, then they can contact GOV.UK to apply for funding.

Do you think candidates under the age of 19 are more likely to get offered the Apprenticeship compared to candidates over 19?
@tommyschofield97058 жыл бұрын
+XDSlaughterr Depends on the job. In my experience no because with an apprenticeship there looking for young minds who are willing to learn and that they can mould and the older you get the less you can be moulded if you get what I mean.

what the heck is a CV??
@willferguson60118 жыл бұрын
+Chris Ascencio It's basically a resume describing your previous work qualifications and normally a paragraph about yourself and ambitions
@KathrineJKozachok7 жыл бұрын
A CV (Curriculum Vitæ, which means course of life in Latin) three major differences between CVs and resumes are the length, the purpose and the layout. A resume is a brief summary of your skills and experience over one or two pages, a CV is more detailed and can stretch well beyond two pages. The resume will be tailored to each position whereas the CV will stay put and any changes will be in the cover letter. A CV has a clear chronological order listing the whole career of the individual whereas a resume’s information can be shuffled around to best suit the applicant. I would say the main difference between a resume and a CV is that a CV is intended to be a full record of your career history and a resume is a brief, targeted list of skills and achievements. CV - long, covers your entire career, static Resume - short, no particular format rule, highly customisable
