We had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Barnes over Zoom video!
BARNES celebrated his 40th birthday in a big way by giving his fans the one gift that they’ve been waiting years… His debut EP is finally out!
After years of being directed, written for and edited in movies and television, this is his moment to shine the light on the five songs on Songs For You, lovingly crafted at his piano at home and presented unedited and straight from the heart.
“11:11” is a track that could not be contained to one genre. The soul-pop vocal soars over a jazzy piano, sacred-feeling organ, Queen-inspired guitars and a bursting “Penny Lane” piccolo trumpet fanfare.
With the ‘70s-style, rich, entirely organic instrumentation of all the tracks on Songs For You-produced by John Alagia (Paul Simon, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Herbie Hancock) and Jesse Siebenberg (Ke$ha, Miranda Lambert, Neil Young, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald)-BARNES is baring his soul through his music for the first time; hopeful, joyful, passionate, nostalgic, vulnerable and loving.
For the past months, since before the pandemic started, BARNES has been filming himself in his Los Angeles home at his piano performing his favorite songs, including a stirring rendition of the Friends theme in honor of the HBO Max reunion special, which has prompted his 2.5 million social media followers to wonder and plead when he’s finally releasing music of his own.
We want to hear from you! Please email Tera@BringinitBackwards.com.

I just stumbled upon this interview. Such a refreshing half hour spent in good company! Questions where great and I loved Ben's thoughtful and extensive answers. I wish him all the best in the world! The passion he has for his work, whether it's music or acting, is truly inspiring and you just know he's gonna deliver the best performance he can. It'd be so cool to see him in a musical production.

i wasn't familiar with ben barnes before watching shadow & bone, but was struck by his performance! so i naturally did a deep wikipedia dive into his career, and that's brought me here. to learn that he's been a musician all his life, and that he didn't release his music until recently is super encouraging and honestly comforting. and i love that for him ~ i believe in divine timing. these things happen when they are meant to. how he says "you know exactly who you are... you're proud of what you've made... the reaction is unbelievably secondary" is something i'm gonna take with me, forever! really grateful for his perspective here. great interview 💖

Thank you so much for this wonderful interview with Ben Barnes! The format was so nice, it allowed room to breathe in between the questions, to allow him to really open up and let his personality shine. I feel bad that he seemed sick during the interview but he still kept up with you ☺️ He brings up covering Daniel Caesar’s song “Best Part” which Ben just released with Stories! Fantastic interview! I hope you get to interview him again sometime 🖤

Love the interview, and the fact that the interviewer lets him speak, and not cut in. It's always so interesting to hear about the background, family and growing up. Those are most interesting to hear, of how a person has developed and what-who contributed to it.

Thank you for this great channel. Actually I think his life story gave me a greater inspiration. Though I'm a nursing graduate, there's a huge artist behind my character and I expelled my true passion, talent since my childhood for dancing, singing, songwriting & acting . But our country situation, culture made us be more educated and have a high salary jobs. Then my passion followed me like my shadow behind me. Sometimes I regret my career choices but definitely I'll be an artist in future. Currently I'm doing those things in little way.
