My wife and I will be making our exit from the OP movement next March (8 months away). Darion was very articulate and it was obvious that he STUDIED his way out. Whenever someone leaves OP it is often said that they left because they were offended or got hurt. It was pretty obvious that Darion's reasons were purely exegetical and had nothing to do with feelings or emotions. Great job Michael on another excellent video. Many thanks.

@@RT-gv6us ,The Apostolic Oneness Pentecostal Church is the truth, you join Tritheism, called the bogus term Trinitarianism, you guarantee hell fire upon you. That is a pagan doctrine . CATHOLICISM made that garbage up

Thank you so much for your heart and continued interest in sharing the truth of the Gospel to our Oneness Pentecostal friends, as you often say. ☺️ UPCI theology hurts and divides and even destroys families and I'm grateful for your continued concern for them. Your work in tandem with the Holy Spirit is helping to free many from false doctrine and the encouragement you bring to people like me, whose family is still in it after 18 years now; helps spur me on to pray and hope for their deliverance. I pray the Lord will continue to bless and keep you and your family! Thank you again for your passion for God's Word; you are a blessing.

As a former Oneness Pentecostal, now Dutch Reformed it is encouraging to see you still producing content on this important topic!

I find it kinda funny that Darion had similar issues with the Oneness views of "Beards". for me that was the first foundational crack in their theology that made me start questioning everything.

Great interview. Pretty interesting stuff. I identify with a lot of what he’s saying, but I think it’s inappropriate to reference the Didache. I do agree that the person being baptized is the one calling on the name of the Lord Jesus (see the recount of Paul’s baptism) And now why wait, arise and be baptized calling on the name of the Lord. It is also interesting that the “calling on the name of the Lord is from Joel 2 and it’s fulfilled in its entirety in Acts 1-2. There’s no information in the text where the people are calling on the name of the Lord, but Peter said, “this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel”. Everything they were seeing and hearing was the things that Joel prophesied. Cornelius and all of his household is a great argument that they were baptized in view or because of the forgiveness of sins and not to obtain forgiveness of sins. Baptism is a pledge of a clean conscious (1 Peter 33:18-21) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ that corresponds to Noah’s 8 person salvation.

I think the Didache reference is appropriate as a common Oneness apologetic is that the trinitarian baptismal formula is a later invention of the 4th century. The existence of the trinitarian formula in the Didache demonstrate that one of the standard talking points of Oneness Pentecostals is refuted by history.
@christfollower18984 ай бұрын
@@drummermajorActually the Didache says nothing about the “Trinitarian Baptismal Formula” as claimed, beyond repeating what Matthew says. It does not offer a “Theology of Baptism”, and more so it is a spurious document with possible interpolations, and problems of legitimacy. I hope those claiming the Didache as some authoritative source also baptise in “running water”, and affirm “baptismal regeneration”, and ensure that they “fast” prior to baptism. Let’s see the manoeuvres shortly.

I mean this kindly but the guy who was being interviewed should join Toastmasters. He doesn’t just say "you know"... he will even say "you know, you know". He repeats the phrase over and over and over. It's so incredibly distracting and off-putting that some people may not even be able to listen.

The conversation is somewhat imbalanced, and I find those who are former Oneness Pentecostals, particularly those who are now Baptist Reformed seem to take this approach. I think the UPCI has done quite a bit of biblically impactful work in your life too…why not talk about that also? Burgos is not an authority on “Oneness Pentecostalism”, beyond his exegetical studies, which ignores alternative readings of certain passages, and are more “apologetic” in nature. Moreover, the level of slurs and arrogance often postured is astounding.

Quite sure Darion no it he'd right away why he left. Holiness standards which he disagreed with and Pastoral authority a d obedience. He mentioned he had a elder Pastor that was against facial hair, the reason so many elder ministers were, was because of the 60-70's rebellious time period, another thing was long hair. You didn't obey Darion, you couldnt obey your Pastor and so the first thing you did was to grow that hair in rebellion. I would bet, your wife wears pants too! Whether she did then, .last likely not, but now is. Tell me if it is a abomination for a man to wear a woman's dress or skirt as most people feel ( maybe Burgos allows it in his liberal church), what then the is dress code of what a woman should not wear pertaining to that of a man? I can think of one thing, but I'm sure both of you would see it being a OK! You tell me sirs! Darion, you didn't jump at the point of explaining the Trinity, or Catholic Baptism ( were you baptized in titles or the no name or authority only in what mess you go to now?).
