Hi Companions Would anyone mind helping me ? My family is Kinda Mentally ill (“Kinda”) So they talk in ways which cause problems to me So we were together after dinner, when suddenly these people Started talking about past things seeing the photo album, and Suddenly The Talks turned into talks about “Memory” And then things like “Do you remember this and that ..” “Strain Your Memory” “Memory Memory memory” “COVID has affected memory” Were said, they all went kinda mad This triggered me later, Now when I do stuff, I focus more on “Will I remember This ?” And I keep Kinda testing myself like “What was the last thing You ate ?” , Then while studying too this makes me more focused towards Those questions rather than towards the Study material, this leads to lack of Results which in turn make me more anxious if those questions are genuine.

If i tell about this to my parents they will call me Crazy, I told about it to my school friend She broke my trust and now everyone calls me names (“Crazy Girl”)and willingly hurt me This worsens the problem by bringing the focus back to it again and again even though their Teasing doesn’t effect me , but sure it makes my problem worse In a recent football match one of them willingly made me fall and stomped me and now they all say that nothing such happened I think it’s another way of teasing me .

Interesting that he says it felt like “falling into his face” while he was lying in the darkness, listening to music. This was also exactly my experience. I listened to a lot of recovery interviews and never heard anyone mention this. Although I would describe it as “falling into my mind”, as if my consciousness was being sucked from the external world into my mind - resulting in the feeling that only my mind exists, anything external is just a projection/dream of my mind.

You must know that depersonalization is the process of distortion of sensory perception processes. In other words, the patient enters an intermediary between feelings and sensations and the cognitive system enters the mediator of feelings and sensations, direct signals that go to the patient’s brain here.These signals are distorted through an intermediary that enters between the feelings and the cognitive system, and thus the feelings are not felt directly, but rather through an intermediary. Here he is trying to place the feelings and emotions in intellectual frameworks. This is in fact no longer the case. Emotions and feelings, even comments on feelings and feelings, must be direct signals that a normal person with depersonalization feels before he suffers from depersonalization. He tries to examine feelings and sensations through self-introspection, and this introspection will confirm the illness for years. The second point of comparison is that the patient begins to compare his feelings now during the illness and what he knows about his old feelings. Therefore, ignoring is the solution and accepting the disease as much as possible

Hi Shaun I have a question, I struggled with dp/dr after I smoked weed. Your videos and manual helped me so much that now I feel like I recovered from that part. I still have very bad anxiety, like social anxiety, about the future and myself, constant anxious what if thoughts and feelings and now my question is if I can also use your manual for general anxiety? That’s what I’m diagnosed with. It feels like I have obsessed thoughts but not about dp/dr anymore😢

@Dpmanual5 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com and my book The Depersonalization Manual. And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

No, he's saying that he sometimes still experiences normal moments of anxiety, and sometimes briefly, feelings of depersonalization. Which is perfectly natural, 75% of people experience this! 😊 It's part of your body and brain's natural response to anxiety. But now that he recognizes the feelings, they last only a few minutes and fade away. As he says, "it fixes itself"! 😊 Read this for more info: www.dpmanual.com/articles/does-depersonalization-come-back/
