By right, he shouldn't have to cut to 155 (or much weight at all, for that matter). Instead, everyone should fight within 10 pounds of their "walking around" weight. That way, the number of fight cancellations due to weight cut issues would reduce dramatically and it would be healthier for the fighters in the long-run.

Nice victory over a dangerous fighter in Jouban. Gunnar almost made it look easy and even when Jouban tried to hit him with a flurry, Gunnar stayed calmed. Super well done. Cowboy Cerrone? Neil Magny? Both are available for fights.

Gunny's got his head screwed on right... Hasn't it kinda been obvious the past year or so how good fighters have looked not cutting as much weight? Anthony Rumble Johnson, Kelvin Gastelum, Johhny Hendricks, Cowboy Cerrone - legit 170 pounder now despite the defeat to Masvidal - arguably he turned around too soon after the Matt Brown fight. Meanwhile Anthony Pettis - never been stopped before - was TKOed by Max Holloway and admitted that he felt terrible coming in as a featherweight - dude walks around 185 - it's fucking INSANE... Weight cutting is a fucked up process - it involves dehydrating yourself massively and is terrible on your liver and kidneys (being soft water filled organs) - I've never had to cut before because thank God I don't fight and I don't have the bug, but I train at a gym with pro and amateur fighters and by all accounts it's fucking awful. Just because the body is 65% water doesn't mean you can just give up 20-30% of it just like that. Frankly if you asked fighters they'd ALL want to get rid of weight cutting - it's fucking stupid... everyone is forced into this stupid game and yet no one wants to do it. I think they should weigh fighters as they do now and weigh them again just before the fight - anyone more than 10% above the first weigh in is disqualified. That will stop people making massive weight cuts to game the system. That includes Conor - bless his soul - but calling him a featherweight is just daft - he's like 145 for about 5 seconds and looks like the living death doing it. As someone pointed out - I think the only reason he did it was to be the champ champ. 155 is definitely his divison - and he'd give many a 170er problems too. I'm really looking forward to seeing Kelvin's fight tomorrow as a small 185er but not cutting any weight - I'm also keen to see GSP - if he manages to defeat Bisping well - that says it all - size advantage may be the thing of the past.
