She said that there were cultural exchanges between Thai and Khmer in her great great grandfather ( king sisovath , king norodom) time as a king. During those time where Cambodian were weak and under influence of Thai culture ( same to this present moment as well since we watch Thai drama and use Thai product ) we wore Thai dance and dance in Thai styles. But once her grandmother took charge of the royal ballet ( king Sihanouk time in the 50s and 60s ), she reform Khmer ballet using ONLY Cambodian dance moves. So the Khmer ballet that you see today is not Thai come from the hard work of queen Kossomak Nearyrath ( princess Boph Tevi 's grandmother ) I hope this helps because the English interpretation here is kind of slow and not the best

That sabai from Thailand that she mention in the video is the big sabai that cover both shoulders. Queen Kossomak Nearyrath realized it's Thai, so she replaced them with " cheang " ( mean oblique)which cover only half shoulder. Chheang in Khmer is different from Thai sabai Cheang is shorter, heavily decorated and heavy material Your sabai is long , thin and more delicated material. I'm sure there must be exchange of fashion between countries during those time just like today. sabai and cheang are similar but different. I can see some Cambodian these day watch too much of your drama BOPE SONNIVAS and mistakes "sabai "as "cheang"
15:26 She admitted that there were some Thai dance teachers in the cambodian court which conforms with the thai sources that also mentioned about thai dance teachers teaching in cambodian court . The French sources also mention about this too.

I realize that's true because due to some sources there were Siam teachers here and also Khmer teacher who could speak Thai either. But Princess also add that since 1940s Princess Kossamak reworked with the old khmer teachers to gather the real and true khmer gestures, as a result you can see the differences of gestures between Khmer and Thai. Here she wanted to ensure that Khmer has our own gestures but because of culture influence, makes our dance in that time look similar to Thai.

@xuwei zhou Could i exchange about this issue with you? You can explain more that which part of costume that Thai borrow. I think it s not all part of Thai costume to borrow from khmer. may be some and Kkmer styles costume at Angkor wat (bas relief) did't wear like Thai costume at all.
@@angkorwat5881 From my opinion, the Kingdom of Ayuttaya was the cooperation among the Suphanabhumi the Lavo and the Sukothai Dynasties. And, the Lavo Dynasty was the relatives with the Khmer Empire from the Angkor Wat. Therefore, the Ayuttaya Kingdom was a combination among Thai Tai and Khmer ethincs. The Kingdom was the trading hub in Southeast Asian region, then the Ayuttaya people learned and recieved cultures from Chinese Indian Java Persian Portugese and etc, and blended those foreign culture with their lifestyle, creating the Ayuttaya styles for cooking dancing building and clothing. Moreover, these developed culture was inherited to the Rattanakosin and Thailand right now. ...

Dear Child, you said Cambodia preserve antiques, and there is no variety! If you understood what Princess Bopha Devi addressed, it was mentioned during her time when Thailand came to learn and teach royal ballet together. And this was way before The Vietnam War and Khmer Rouge Regime. In the 30 years of ruins, Thailand was able to develop while Cambodia was trying to preserve but originally Khmer create the traditional royal ballet!
Thailand ruled Cambodia So Khmer art was mixed with Thailand, but during the reign of Princess kosamak NeaRy Roth , our princess re-established Khmer dance to be pure Khmer and that a true Khmer dance since ancient time 1000 year ago and not to be confused with Thai culture or Thai dance ! Please note that Thailand has ruled Cambodia for many years and Thai cultural art also ruled Cambodia, but all every art Thailand has been influenced by Cambodia since the beginning of Thailand in the 8th century, because Cambodia has ruled Thailand since the Angkor period, so the original of Thai art is from Khmer art first Thai ruled on Khmer !

Thai culture and arts has been developed generation by generation by contacting with many empires like Khmer Tavaravadi Mon Lavo Sukhothai Lanna Java Chinese Persian Portugal India and many more. So, the Thai culture and arts now are much different from the Ancient Khmer Empire's one. ..... This is always true.

I don't want to answer your questions about anything. But, we must accept that there were so many ancient empires here in Southeast Asia. Before Ancient Khmer, they were Dvaravati Chenla Funan and Java. Culture and arts did flow among these empires. As a matter of facts, the countries around here have the same ancestors, then, we are relatives and receive their cultural heritage. However, the difference is about ability to develop things. In facts, Ayutthaya and Bangkok have more potentials for cultural developments because they are the trading and traveling hub of the region. With more opportunity to receive create and share with international communitirs, you may learn that Thai arts and culture is very dynamic in that private entertainment industry use this Thai soft power in their film drama and song, and export them to other foreign countries whose local people seem to like it. Moreover, thai art undergrad students create their traditional and contemporary dance project by mixing and matching traditional style with modern movements. Therefore, thai arts have been developed constantly, which is positive to Thai social and economic development. You may see these relevant clips on youtube. That's why I said that Thai cultures and arts today are much different from the Ancient Empire's one, and a lot of credit should go to Thai people generation by generation to do it. .....

To be more concrete with some examples, the headpiece of Khon leading actors and actresses was inspired by the persian one called "lompok". Moreover, the art masters in Ayutthaya period use Persian high class cloth as a role model to adapt and evole the clothes for Khon. Moreover, during Bangkok period, Thai people add more things like jewelry into the Khon headpiece to make it more eye-catching and beautiful. That's why I said that culture and arts are dynamic and developed times to times, and is not exactly the same as the ancient things from a thousand years ago for sure.

@@narongchaithitinanpong3070 your speaker seems to be saying that Khom is not Khmer. Wake up, don't just learn your history! The Kingdom of Funan was the first Cambodian empire! The Tai people came to live in Cambodia in the 8th century, there is no culture. They accept all Khmer culture! Khom is Khmer! There is no difference between Khom and Khmer! Obviously, the classical instruments music is taken from the Khmer! So It’s proof that Thai classical music, Thai classical dance songs or Thai art are from Khmer. If Thai not influence from Khmer art and why your classical instruments music like Khmer on the Angkor wat temple sculpture? But your country peoples not accept everything and make a lot of fake history that Thai not influence from Khmer or Khmer not khom or Khmer influence from Thai back ! Oh my god ! I know that your art is developing form generation to generation , the art of any country is developing , but where did it come from first?
