I think Jimmy's writing, business acumen, his ability, with Mr. Grant leading the way - to know that breaking the band in America with virtually zero interviews, zero singles. And his production rate just slightly higher than merely his guitar playing.

Whenever Jimmy speaks publically on the record, he NEVER gets into personal information. He never gives an opinion on politics, social matters, world events, or anything else. Jimmy Page is ALL BUSINESS. He maintains this policy for well over 50 years. It has kept him out of controversy. He is a VERY SMART man. I admire him for this. When he picks up a guitar... It is magic.

Great interview! I think Jimmy actually let his guard down. I wanted to play guitar because of Mr. Page, when I saw Dazed and Confused from the movie, I knew that was what I wanted to do….but he had the great fortune of being with top notch players who all shared that same drive and they had some of the best chemistry! Page could improvise as could the band, on the spot.

I sure wish he had recorded more in the past twenty years. Jason Bonham does say that they recorded as Led Zeppelin EIGHTY songs in the year 2008 though with either Myles Kennedy, Chris Cornell, or Steven Tyler on lead vocals. That will be mind-blowing to have released some/one day, eh!
@adamwatson6916
@adamwatson6916 3 жыл бұрын
They were only recorded in demo form. They only had Steve Tyler work with them a day or two and page sent him packing becuase on top of not singing well. He insulted the material and suggested out side song writers. Myles Kennedy was the only one any serious work was done with the were planning on taking him on the road but decided against it . Much of the demos are instrumental with no vocals. Nothing was actually recorded in a proper recording studio . Chris cornell was rumored but it's highly doubtful he actually jammed with them .

I saw Led Zeppelin back in 1977 in Baton Rouge, La. They had commissioned some film company to make a film (not video) out of this concert, but the project got shelved, and the film was not properly stored, thus it deteriorated. A really bad copy of this film can be found on KZbin.

How it went down was the best way, not doing media? As a fan, I’d agree with exactly the way Led Zeppelin handled it. It was exciting when a new album came out and you’d hear it on FM radio first and then they’d make an announcement about WHEN the album would be available to buy. I just never had any complaints about LZ. I even went to the coliseum to see them and I hate crowds. It was all a wonderful time.

What happened to his lower jaw, BTW? If you watch any of his earlier LZ-footage, his lower jaw is kind of put back, while now it's put forth, like that of a bulldog. Watch his young days' footage, on 'All Your Own' TV Show, for instance.
@suncat5160

That's just what he looks like as a healthy 59 year old as opposed to a malnourished 29 year old. If you really look at his jaw line even in the early 70's, it was always quite rounded. It's just that he was rail thin towards the mid/late 70's that he had no meat on him. He famously stated that he "doesn't do solids". He only "drank" his food during the late 70's due to his heroin use (which leads to constipation). Smart chap really.

An absolutely world's worst memory of 1980 was when l was informed of the death of the beloved Mr.John Bonham. I let felt like the world had come to an end or something.
