I used to hate punk, am 65, plus I had never heard of against me and wouldn't have bothered to properly listen to it. Then I read her book. Am ashamed to d Say that I thought it was a fictional story. Then I looked the band up and saw the band existed and listened to their music. I couldn't believed how great their music is. They stopped me being so closed-minded. Thank you for that Laura. Also, what a beautiful person Laura is. Also, religion is no place to get ones morals from. Would rather get my morals from Laura. And of course to think to think for myself.

Wow, that gives me a good feeling. What brought you to reading the book in the first place?

God, I adore Laura Jane so much. I don't think I can properly express how much I'm glad that she exists. She's such an inspiration that like... maybe I can really be me some day, maybe I can be as fucking fabulous and true to myself as she is.

If transition is something you feel you need to do, you definitely can do it. I never thought I'd be able to. I was raised Mormon, and that just isn't something Mormons do! lol I was envious of people who I thought had the strength to do it. But I hit a wall eight years ago and couldn't continue anymore; I had to transition. I didn't feel like I had a choice, it was do or die for me. This was long enough ago that there were few well-known trans people. When I first started researching this issue, there was very little out there to give me inspiration that I could live a normal life. Now there are lots of good resources and great role models out there. Fast forward to now, and I'm happy, content, and much more successful in my career. The majority of my severe depression is gone. I just live a normal life. I'm treated the same as any woman, and most days I don't even think about the fact that I'm trans. Life finally feels natural and most things come comparatively easily, compared to before when everything felt so forced and wrong. I'm just saying, you can do it if that's what's right for you. Be sure you see a therapist at least once, as it really helps to talk through the big changes you'll be going through. Try to build a support system to help you through the process (don't go it alone). Plan for employment after going full-time. And be sure you have realistic expectations about what transition will and won't do for you. It won't solve *any* of your problems other than the gender issue, but it should reduce or eliminate any gender dysphoria you may have (it eliminated mine). All of life's other issues were still there, but I could _finally_ work on them because the elephant in the room was addressed. I never could before because the gender thing was always in the way. Also, don't worry about what other people think or say. Aside from those who are important to you like perhaps family, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you. Some people will never accept us. Just try to ignore it. I've known too many trans people that fixate on what other people think, and it will never allow you to really achieve your full potential if you worry about that. Just live your life. Pretty soon, it will all be behind you and just a distant memory. Being able to live authentically, and in full alignment, is the greatest gift you can give yourself. It's so essential in order to achieve contentment in life. Feel free to send a KZbin message if you ever need to talk. Best of luck!!

Filming In Portland Yeah, I already know it's not a cure-all. I've got friends who have started on hormones and so I've got a decent idea of what it will or won't fix. Honestly, my biggest wall right now is that I'm sort of in a rut in life in general, and it feels like one of those catch 22 situations where like... I need a car, but to get a car I need money, to get money I need a job, to get a job I need a car. Part of me feels like, how am I going to throw in transitioning to that mix and somehow manage to still figure out a solution to it.

@@erssiemajor8010 A pretty casual and laidback term for a brit yeah, at least from what I gather.
@homeopathicfossil-fuels47894 жыл бұрын
@@erssiemajor8010 Yeah that is where things start carrying slur value, when the term generalizes a group of people in some way or another. "Britbong" is apparently viewed as an insult by some(sorry, didn't know, thought it was just a endearing nickname for the british) and is apparently something exclusively seen on the internet(hence why you have probably never heard the term being used before) In the same sense I do not view tranny as a slur, it is just a shorthand, hell it can mean more than just transsexual/transgender, it used to be the shorthand for transmission, in relation to automobile mechanics but I do get mad when someone uses the term "shemale" or "ladyboy" to describe me because those are porn terms, misgendering porn terms at that and generalizes all transgenders as adult performers or sex workers.

Wow, the interviewer is pretty ignorant about punk if he doesn't realize how much infulence women and queer folk have had on the genre. That said, he was even less informed about anarchism (which isnt about chaos at all. it's really about advocating an incredibly organized society, just one without hierarchy, where the proletariat communally own the means of production) - I'm glad Laura Jane Grace schooled him lol.

Interviewer comes off as kind of ignorant about a lot of this stuff, screwing up song titles- expressing general ignorance about political positions- making kinda dumb guy assumptions about trans stuff. Like "there are no queers and women in punk!!! you are so unique!!!!", girl- punk rock was *the* space where I could be gender non-conforming growing up. Back then, if you "cross dressed" in most circles- at best you were a joke- you were being funny. You did it around the right punk rockers and riot grrrls- and you are some kind of teenage revolutionary, smashing societies' expectations of how "a boy" should look and act. I essentially socially transitioned for a period in my teens- I got to be "one of the girls" several years before I'd even understand what that term meant as an adult. I experienced gender euphoria for the first time in those spaces. Times have changed now ofc, and even the most radio friendly pop bands will stick a dude in a skirt and everyone will call it "stunning and brave"- and that's.... nice enough I guess? Cynical support is still support, but without Punk, the gender dysphoria I've felt my entire life would have killed me before I even learned what it was. I thought Laura was incredibly patient about it haha- I've asked people if they "plan on being such a fucking moron for the rest of their life too?" for less.

Oi!
@dylanbordner61686 жыл бұрын
God also preached for men to cut of their balls. The bible is so contradictory when you look at it, it really doesn't serve as a good argument for anything. Its all subjective with a few underlying themes. Im on you're side though, its selfish and a waste of money if you ask me. The whole movement seems to support the idea of justifying the satisfaction of perverse internal desires. Selfish. Using an analogy, murderers murder because they are born with certain perverse genes according to many experts. Does this make murder okay? No. Can people manage their internal desires in so that these inherent outcomes are prevented? Probably. Same goes for lbgt in my opinion. They claim to be born this way, "special" and "different". Murderers fit this same profile. So they're basically relating themselves to murderers, yet claiming that is okay to satisfy their perverse desires because they don't bring harm to others. Okay I guess, but its still selfish. Buddha - A person following the desires and wants of their mind is a person trapped inside themselves
@benjaminfranklin10816 жыл бұрын
Amen I agree man true satisfaction and fulfillment come from being connected directly to the one who knows the number of hairs on our head, but concerning "mental handicap" the only difference between someone like the Apostle Paul and the Jews that crucified Christ is the grace of God. Laura needs our loving kindness and prayers to see who she is in God's eyes and no one elses. Most of you(in this comment section) can hate the Father for giving you the option to turn your back on him and do what you like, but what breaks my heart is I can relate because I've been there and I want to say something to you its that you have infinite beauty and value, apart from what you can offer the world, not because of anything you will ever do, but simply because you are His masterpiece and His children, I truly hope some of you will set aside the heavy pride in your hearts.
