nice guys all the original members of MDC. They invited me into their parked van after eating at a vegetarian place here in NYC. Humble guys, no airs. I asked Ron their great guitarist how they got started. He said they moved to California and everyone there was playing fast. "What a gas!" he said. "Then we started playing fast."

Great biography. Thanks! I just finished it and reloved and -lived my MDC moments. This book is so full of gratitude, persistence and integrity. I wish MDC would grab their wheelchairs, pump up the tires and roll on to Denmark/Copenhagen again! Big love !

I'm surprised Dave didn't correct the interviewer when he called China a "communist country". Even ignoring the fact that a "communist country" is an oxymoron (communism is by definition a _stateless_ society), China is a pretty clear cut example of State Capitalism. In no way do the proletariat have communal ownership of the means of production there. The only real example of a communist society historically I can think of is Anarchist Spain, right before the Spanish Civil War.

China is a Marxist-Leninist state. Just because you have a socialist government doesn’t mean you can’t have private property. Like the NEP in the Soviet Union, markets for socialist societies are just means to an end, not an ongoing thing forever. Karl Marx used socialism and communism interchangeably most of the time so what is the point of splitting hairs? Like the Soviet Union, China transformed right into a centrally planned economy immediately after feudalism. It was just too radical of a change for the time period, hence the revisionism of the 1980s and on.

Humble as fuck .... But something doesn't add up of why this band never catapulted beyond the level of DI? Until I watched this video and then it makes sense ! Never sold out until this. The book. Damn. They sold way the fuck out. That sucks. I was always so pro MDC....now I am let down. Fuck it...make a couple bucks. Couldn't have made much as how much of the population actually care about MDC...this is basically standing on the corner begging for money. Too bad they had to end their shit so badly. I am definitely what one would call (oh God am I REALLY gonna say this....an MDC fan.....and he just killed it for me. He even says that he has learned to shut his mouth and accept the bullshit. Wow...8 minutes in and I am turning this bullshit off. Too bad.
