I like how accurate Gira always is with his diction, his forming of thoughts, and his selection of words to describe those thoughts. Accuracy is a good thing, which seems to be going out of fashion. Long live accuracy. Long live the molecules that make up the person of Gira.

what a band, what a poet.

Cool interview. I have my ticket for Swans on Friday in LA, and I'm going to see if anyone has an extra ticket for Saturday....I should have bought both nights when I had the chance. My favorite shows were Angels of Light 1999 (I think first tour and first time I saw anything M. Gira related) and the 2012 tour, which was a religious experience. Can't wait to see them again.

Great interview man, many thanks for the upload. Going to cop a lot of merch when they're here in Dublin the 21st of the month and hopefully get Michael to sign some of it. He did a lovely acoustic gig in a church in Dublin last year and was kind enough to sign stuff even tho there was a high risk of catching covid or other illness then given it was winter.

Early Swans did NOT sound like any other "rock" bands of the time (as the interviewer erroneously keeps inferring). Gira was very gracious to let that one go as he's said many times in other interviews that it took a LONG time for Swans to find any kind of audience due to their singular intensity.

Gira carried this interview

I think the internet saved a band like swans since so many people have discovered them out of word of mouth and recommendation from blogs and KZbin etc

First time I've heard Michael Gira channeling his fatherly role. He calls his son "Mikey" which I think is hilarious. When I met Michael Gira he commented that my brother's name, Mikey, was an "unfortunate curse."

His son came into the room when we were doing the interview. I should have left that part out.
