The tone of voice Dr. Mortimer J.Adler using so incredibly, how attractive it is. Proofly showing off his wisdom, the higher speaking of language. I knew his book namely is How to Read a Book, the one mentioned in Twelve Pillars writtien by Jim Rohn. I gotta learn from him alot from 20, sharings from him definitly useful until 21st Century.

This had to be tough for him. In his autobiographies, it is clear that Charles van Doren was a close friend of his.

@Rainhousefunk Not everyone is curious or has a sincere interest to learn. We know there are millions of people who have been deeply harmed by ideological belief systems that close their minds to real understanding. So, what we know about ourselves as a species is that our nature involves contradictory instincts, greatly affected by our associations with others in family, community and culture.

I treasure this man's books and especially "The Great Books of the Western World" 56 vols. Have read them through the last 35 years. Mortimer Adler converted to Christianity at 86 years old. Read his last book "Looking through the rear view mirror".

How long did it take you to get through them and do you feel as if you've understood them to the degree Adler talks about in his books? I've read some of them but intend to reread now that I've read How to Read a Book. Feels like I've wasted so much of my life (now age 31) not truly reading or understanding much. I might know the gist of the Divine Comedy for example but not much else.

Hey! May I translate this video into Portuguese and upload it on my channel? I now have a project of disclosing Mortimer Adler's methods of reading and learning, and I think spreading it more and more, and to different countries would be a great thing! =)
