Great questions, Zack! It was much more interesting hearing thoughtful interview questions coming from an actual fan rather than someone who's conducting an interview really just to promote themselves or the game. It was also really fun seeing how Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma got so excited looking at the maps you brought in that you used as a child. As much as any fan loves the Zelda games, I don't know if anyone could love them as much as those two, and I think this interview shows that.

It's amazing how they haven't let success go to their heads. Zelda has almost always sold and reviewed very well, but hearing Aonuma talk about how he realized that he was pushing "his way to play" onto players, and realizing how that detracted from the fun and needed to change, is why I love Nintendo. Almost any other AAA developer wouldn't risk completely upending a decades old, constantly successful formula in order to pursue a higher ideal of player entertainment.

I voted for Fairy Wings! I wish it was picked, too. It was cool to hear about your Zelda memories too. My first Zelda game was Ocarina of Time at age 10, and I would spend hours wandering around. I wouldn't really progress the story... I'd just explore. For some reason I was content just getting lost, and I'm glad Breath of the Wild will focus on that element. ... I dunno why but seeing the maps were weirdly heartwarming. Such a sweet childhood memory!

+AbdallahSmash026#1Fan No human is perfect. No human can foresee the future either. Even Hercules had flaws. Miyamoto's mistakes just proves that he is human just like us. His mistakes does not take away or "cancel out" the magnitude of his contributions to Nintendo and even the gaming industry in general. Life doesn't work that way. Nobody is perfect but it's the effort we put in to learn from thoae mistakes and improve is what makes our personal legacies worth noting and applauding.

I'm actually a disappointed about how Aonuma views and is treating Link's character. The fact that Aonuma even considered changing Link's name annoys me. Clearly Aonuma doesn’t value Link as a character the way most Zelda fans do. I have never seen Link as my empty avatar, and I never will. I am pleased whenever he shows more personality, like for instance, during the whole Wind Waker game. I’d be willing to bet most Zelda fans feel the same way. After that interview, I actually wouldn't be surprised if Aonuma, during the next game of the franchise, changed Link's gender just to please a few.

I agree with you on Windwaker haha it isn't like Ocarina. he has a little sister, lives with his grandma. he has a family haha in Skyward Sword, he already has a good relationship with Zelda and does appear to be more of a character than an empty avatar. All I'd like to add is that Aonuma doesn't see things like you because he's a developer. I know it's obvious but this series has been entrusted to him. Zelda is probably on his mind a lot and so it's natural for then to begin to see things from another perspective haha

Link has a basic personality that is different in each game, but he still is represented by the player. You choose in your mind what you want him to be, you develop his persoanlity. You may think that Link has a personality in Wind Waker, but most of it is just your mind developing it's own personality for him, based on the little character traits we see. The developers shaped him to make you think certain things about him, but you make most of it yourself.

Nope. Wolf Link amiibo is in the game so the two worlds (BoTW and Twilight) are on separate timelines. Two same Links cannot exist in the same Hyrule "universe" because that would be a paradox (i.e. who was born first?). BUT two DIFFERENT Links CAN exist in the same Hyrule "universe" because they have no relation to each other at all: just like BoTW and Wolf Link.

(WARNING: VERY BAD GRAMMAR OR SO) I actually have a theory. If you look back in to Twilight Princess, you should remember a blonde headed boy name Colin. He always looked up to Link and when he gets kidnapped by some kind of monster (come on I don't know the enemy names), Link tries to save him. When Link saves him, I remember a line that he says. He says "Some day I want to be like you". Dunno if those are the exact words be says but I know he said something like that. Now, since Link's hair is a bit lighter than his normal hair color in Breath of the Wild, that gave me a hint to Colin's hair, which was a lighter blonde to Link's natural hair (also the same with Skyward Sword, since Link's hair is light as well). Now, does anyone think that Link is actually Colin in Skyward Sword OR Breath of the Wild? Neither is an answer as well, since this is JUST a theory. Let me know how you think about my theory and give me an answer about which Zelda you think Link is actually Colin in (SS or BOTW) if you want that is.

My mother language is spanish, The Legend of Zelda was my motivation to learn English. The first time I played Ocarina of Time I was able to do it because I memorized what my brother did to pass the game, even if I didn't understand the dialogues I cried while playing it. I really got immersed in the world and was able to feel the emotions the game conveys through the story without actually knowing what was going out, that's just how amazing, beautiful and meaningful this game is!!!

I know this video was from a while ago, but I personally find Mr. Miyamoto's and Aonuma's comments about Link to be quite odd. Though it is true they didn't make him as emotive, this version of Link still has a character, and tbh he has the most depth to him than most other Links - due to there being a reason he doesn't speak or emote as much. To add to this, with this version of Link in the Japanese version, he wrote out his feelings a lot, so he really has a chracter still. Link was still even emotive in the game.

I've seen many of these from many different KZbinrs,. You absolutely gave the best the best interview. By far and no doubt. You asked very good questions and you stepped back and let the interview be about them, as it should be, you were a fantastic mediator between the audience and the interveiweees. something most KZbinrs are very bad at, and most importantly you were respectful, and actually dressed up, something most youtuber's fail at miserably, it's one thing to say these guys are legends or idols or whatever, you actually showed it, Great Job!
