14:16 I totally agree! The way the female characters are portrayed in the Novel is amazing - from princesses to fisherwoman, they are all treated equally and are super bold, witty, and loveable. And the fact that they all have shades of grey in their personalities makes it even more brilliant writing. I really hope that in the next part, they give more importance to characters like Poonguzali and Vanathi. And the story ends with Manimegalai too, a naive brave teen princess❤ miss her in this movie

In an Indian film world that's recently been dripping with hyper-masculinized machismo and where female characters are relegated to ornamental bit parts, PS1 came like a breath of fresh air, putting women front and centre, and presenting them in a ravishing, feminine and steely way. These women take no nonsense from anybody. Kalki was indeed ahead of his time. And kudos to Mani Ratnam who has always presented women in respectful way.

Sometimes Aiswarya Rai answers like Mr Mohanlal sir. I noticed they have similar style of answering in interviews .Actually it's art of tackling questions & controversy. They never give you direct answers. When recreating a history as a movie, the role of the director is challenging- not only in delivering the story at it's original form; but also retaining the interest of the audience. Bringing all the movie giants under one roof and offering such an exceptional spread to the audience; is definitely a humongous task. Director Mani Ratnam has pulled it off quite charmingly. Sincere respect and love to Mani Ratnam for giving us so many memories to cherish from the chola - pandya dynasty and giving us a face to relate to each of those characters. All the actors have been carefully hand picked by the director. They have done justice to their roles - some have more screen time in part 1 and others in part 2. All the emotions have been beautifully edged by ARR. The chemistry between Aditya Karikaalan and Nandini have been so wonderfully brought out through the song - "veera". Difference between South India and North India. Mani Ratnam(South Indian director) gives chance to Bollywood actress. But North Indian film industry has tried to stop the success and fame of South Indian films like Vikram, Jai Bhim,etc., Thats why South Indian artists are humble and talented unlike North Indian so called Legends who are worthy to do only remake movies.

I see so some comments abt why Aishwarya Rai is not doing movies and sitting at home. Not everyone has the same values & dreams. May be at this stage & age she wanted live as a normal lady take care of her kid & family. She is no more in her younger days.50 yrs old . People change their priorities change with time. The answer was given by abhishek that the discussion of who's going to work and stay at home was the reason for aishwarya's career setback. It's unfortunate that putting behind ones career became an issue between them. Just when Aishwarya was getting films that require more than just being the heroine and doing over the top drama she leaves. Her "comeback" films were different but badly acted due to script but even those films showed a different approach to learning how to separate heroine from genuinely portraying the character. Ponniyin selvan provided that right balance of good story and character.

Aishwarya's acting was fantabulous in the climax and Trisha's facial expressions with Karthi was superb and apt. I wasn't much impressed with Vikram's acting in the end when he confronted Nandhini in the end BUT OVERALL I WAS V.MUCH IMPRESSED BY MR.MANIS DIRECTION AND HIS DOING JUSTICE TO ALL THE ACTORS IN PS By the way I do not know anything about PS
