I grew up spiritually (not superstitious, but spiritually as in character) and we're taught to always remind ourselves of death so as to remain grounded and not get lost in all the worldly 'illusions.' Taking a walk in the cemeteries is one way. But now with the internet I just browse through online obituaries. And believe me or not, reading obituaries of random people online has become a regular activity of mine.

Ron, I would be so honored and humbled if you would share my grandparents story. My grandmother lived to 96 and my grandfather lived to 103. They worked on their farm until my grandfather went into a nursing home at 98. He finished the 3rd grade, my grandmother finished 8th grade. My grandfather drove his farm tractor until he was 95. There's so much more to their story. I understand their story might not be video-worthy, and that's ok. They were in the local newspaper a few times. My grandfather died in nursing home at 103 years old right next to his wife, who had a stroke 2 weeks later, and died 2 weeks after that. They were amazing hard working people!

I've watched him myself. Such a nice fellow. I watch him, bc he shows such respect for the dead. Folks in my generation, were taught to be respectful, toward the deceased. We have men and women, who've served in the armed forces, and it is so sad that their graves, in fact entire burial grounds, are neglected & torn up. Ppl come there to get high, leave butts & bottles and God knows what else. Lastly, I would like to thank him for taking the time to leave a headstone, for the deceased that don't have one. It shows honor twds them. They were once alive, and most everyone touches someone else's life. Their lives tell some kind of story. (Hopefully, in a positive way.) Thank you sir. 👍🏼👍🏼🕊

There was one cemetery we were asked to leave in Pee Wee Valley, KY. The kids were trying to find certain graves such as oldest person, youngest, oldest grave. When I explained this to the groundskeeper, then he began helping us. He realized that cemeteries are part of our history, that the kids knew that mortality rates I the 1800's we're high for infants, mother's and soldiers. Often we placed flowers and said prayers. Now I have a son doing the same. Thank you both.
