I had heard that some mausoleums will pop the latches on the casket lids? To prevent this from happening..

Hey. I was wondering where you store the rental casket? and how often can you use it before it needs to be replaced/repaired?

Would there be an issue with the funeral home if I asked them to distribute my ashes in three different urns for my three adult children

A BFF of mine, she passed accidently back in 1974, her death came just a week or two before her high school graduation. They dressed her in her graduation gown, and her cap was laid up against the lid of the casket. I had our Medium channel her through to me, we chated about her passing and viewing, she said they did a great job. I said, she looked beautiful, looked like she was sleeping. I wanted so much for her to wake up so we could go dancing again. We will dance again, this I am sure of👻👻

Very informative Kari! Thank you for sharing. I had not thought about the markers for radiation. My dad had 3 of them but it was 5 years before his death so nice to know the markers do not have a long life.

Kari, I'm sure you've heard about the worst tragedy I've ever seen in trafficking dead body parts. Candace Scott in Arkansas, FBI caught her stealing & selling all sorts of body parts to a so called blood artist. Jeremy Paul. She wasn't shy she FB Messaged him to see if he wanted two skulls with caps. She went so far dark and beyond troubling even shipping a head and a precious still born baby. Oh this one is bad. I've heard of similar this by far the worst. Sorry not wanting to be off topic on video. Just wanted to get you this note.

As a child, i had kissing tonsils and large adenoids. My mama slept with me because i would literally stop breathing and she had to turn/ move me to get my breath back. On one visit to my ENT specialist, he inserted metal rods into my nostrils ( looked like long metal q-tips). Dr. C and mama stood outside room for protection. Yrs later, i was told it was radiation therapy. T and A was done day after my 7th birthday. Nice present, huh? As a student nurse in 1963 during my rotation thru O.R., recovery room, and surgical patient care, i had at least one lady for a patient who had radiation for cervical cancer. It was a scary assignment, but we all had to have that experience of care. We studied the Curie's work also. I was not aware that OSHA came about partly because of this situation. I would like to read this book. I am so sad for those poor, dear women and their suffering. Belated blessings 🙏 for them and their families as well 🙏

When I was a little kid, our neighbors owned an ambulance service. They had 2 yellow ambulances and a white ambulance with no lights. We learned later it was for transportation of the deceased. Back then in 1970, funeral homes were still going to death scenes till 1985 when the Medical Examiner took that job over.

Here in Ithaca NY , we have Bangs Funeral Home, , and Bangs Ambulance Service. Both are owned by the same family. So there are still funeral home and ambulance service combinations operating today.

My grandfather told me that he drove this ambulance/hearse combination for the local funeral home. However, when the funeral home business was slow and needed a boost, they would simply drive the "ambulance" slowly and take the longest route to the hospital. That would help the funeral home business. I'm guessing this was not an isolated case, which makes me wonder, why funeral homes were trusted with rushing dying people to the hospital.

In 1953 my family was in a horrible accident. A hearse came with Dr and funeral folks. Some of us went to hospital. Funeral guy got uncle Stan. I still carry scars. Stitching wasn't so pretty then.

My EMS career started in the mid-80s in a 1973 Cadillac ambulance. Big heavy smooth cruiser, but the way to do it was just throw 'em in the back, go like heck to the hospital. Our family bought and restored the Caddy when it was taken out of service, and I still own it, as a parade and show car!

Great video with some cool pics. I always thought funeral directors had a disincentive to rush patients to the hospital...if the patient didn't make it, they had a customer for the funeral home. 🙃 Today's ambulances are much better of course. They are like a hospital room on wheels. Often patients are stabilized before they reach the hospital.

My parents lived in a town of 4500 people. 4 months pregnant mother was hit by a car and driven to the hospital one town over in a hearse, dual duty machine in the early 1960s. She was fine in the end, we joke it's why my brother was a little odd. 😅

Growing up in the late 80's my grandmother dated a mortician in Iowa after my grandfather died. He had a hearse and an old ambulance that looked like this phot that he still used to do extractions and pick up bodies. He provided ambulance service for Keokuk County back in the day. I'm not sure when that ended, but around 1990, the old ambulance was still in mint condition and was being used to transport bodies. No idea what ever happened to it. The funeral home is still in business run by the grand daughter.

Those old Caddy ambulances would fly. In my area, the driver was often the only one and he’d load the patient and haul ass to the hospital. Our two old funeral homes operated them.

I started working at a funeral home when I was 16, which ran an ambulance service. The funeral home had two combinations, and finally bought one high top cadillac. They gave up the service around the mid 1980's. I went on to a full-time FD job and since retired. I really have a soft spot for the Cadillac Ambulance of the day compared to the new ones.
