On making a NATO AK reliable, would changing to STANAG mags help? I’m assuming the reliability issues have more to do with the taper of the case than anything. Also Jim has referred to NATO AKs as having issues due to higher pressure cartridges? Is this due to 5.56? 223 has a max psi of 55k while 5.45 is around 52k

@hairydogstail2 жыл бұрын
The knowledge to build a reliable AR is not a lego set lol.. You need correct chamber gauges, function gauges, pin gauges etc. The most false narrative being spewed in the gun world is the AR is a lego set. By the way, the Browning 50 cal machine gun and the FN 240 are also stamped guns used by the US military..
@yrsued2 жыл бұрын
OK, have you ever built an AK??? NOT THE SAME!!!
@Nylonscheme2 жыл бұрын
Well AK building requires rivits and presses Ect whereas AR with correct specd parts can be put together with hand tools and a vice. I’m an AR guy myself but the AK definitely is harder to build and less accurate afterwards too, lol
@yrsued2 жыл бұрын
@@Nylonscheme Very much so!! Once you accurize an AK, don't mess with it!!
@hairydogstail2 жыл бұрын
@@Nylonscheme Depends on the AK. Milled receivers with a threaded barrel need few rivets as does the M-16. Good luck finding AR parts that are correctly specked. I see lower receivers from the same manufacturer that have different and out of spec tolerances, let alone parts from different manufacturers . If you had the proper gauges, tools and knowledge you would know this. AR rifle parts need to fit into established tolerances or they are just a cobbled together toy..It takes more tools to properly build an AK, but they also have looser tolerances than a properly built AR requires..Apple-oranges, but the AR is not a lego set, if you wish to build a proper one..
