Its basically what the books do, first book, Louis perspective, second book, Lestats perspective. Wich one is the true one? None, both, Lestat isnt as bad as its painted there, but he is bad, same goes for Louis. The show has played with it and merged a bit of both and I like this version more than the books version.

The show is really good for what they were aiming for (very dramatic and over the top) but too many changes especially to what vampires actually are, they show's vampires are very different from the books vampires.

@@gabnel1000 Yes, they are different, and let me correct myself a bit. The show is deffinetly a better "Interview with the vampire" than the first book, for me. Now... Okay The vampire Lestat is another completely different story, Its my favorite vampire book ever written(I havent read all the books of Anne Rice's vampire saga, the last one I read was the fourth, and I really liked it too). But I think yes, from book 2 onward, I like the books more... But we havent reached book 2 in the TV series YET, we will get it maybe next year, and Im excited for it, because I really really liked what they did with inverview, i think making it full gay from book one is the correct thing to do, i think giving us some of Lestat POV here is amazing, I think Daniel Molloy and the New interview in the present times is a fuck yeah... I think Armand is amazing too... I think the changes made to Claudia's character is a fuck yeah... And I think Louis in the books is just a sad boy who never really recovers from what happened to him on his life, and that might be true in the future of the TV series but I really really like what they did with that character. I think most of the changes they made just work, and they work wonderfully, and Im here for it. One thing i dont really understand yet, i dont know if it has an explanation or if its just the plot needing to give plot armor to Daniel... But... Spoilers here... I think 2 vampires who can read minds, how do they not catch Daniel's machinations with the Talamasca? Maybe the Talamasca did some wuju mind magic there so they couldn't figure it out? Maybe just plot armor? But still, suspension of disbelief, i can decide to ignore that detail, because it makes me enjoy the story more, and this is what stories are about.

I don't mind making it full gay cause i'm not sure if Ann Rice intended for that to be the case but couldn't do that at in the era she wrote the books or Ann Rice's vampire just don't feel the need to have sex as they also don't feel the need to smoke or drink alcohol. They did do a little bit of The Vampire Lestat in this season, like the bit of his back story they showed. Louis was meant to be the sad boy, that was the point of his character, someone who hasn't being able to recover from the loss of his brother and Claudia was not some badass because she was supposed to be a child who ended up dead inspired by personal loose of Ann Rice's daughter. The inconsistencies and plot whole stem from the changes they made, like introducing the Talamasca at this point, how Armand couldn't read Daniel's mind or the mind of Rashid, how they made Armand extremely powerful than he was in the books but also weak at the same time, which resulted in making Louis more powerful than he was at this point, how vampires didn't give out/drink each other's blood willy--nilly, having powers they shouldn't have for their age, like the mind gift which ended up causing a lot of issues with every vampire seeming to have that gift etc

And I usually dont like when they make big changes, I wouldnt want it for my favorite books(cosmere, not relevant here), but if it ever happens and Im able to enjoy it, ill enjoy it as I have enjoyed this show.

When Armand says “my daughter was my sister was my throw pillow when he didn’t look at me kindly” when mocking Louis is so indicative of how she’s treated by Louis as we see in the new POV of her creation. He loves her but at the same time she serves as a prop for him when Lestat looks away. Lestat loves her differently in that he fears for her life from the very beginning because he knows the laws. I feel like he doesn’t step in because he sees her death as almost righting the wrong he did in creating her but the guilt on his face in that last shot is crazy. So much lore in this episode and so devastating!

I didn’t see guilt in his face there actually, it seemed like a half smile, like being in awe it was actually happening (yet still not stepping in). Lestat may have had love for her (I feel like it was actually care + obligation, marred by jealousy for how Louis felt towards her). I think the guilt comes later as it is all setting in. But still, nobody loved Claudia like Louis 😢😢😢

But in s1 we see the love he has for her but also the fear (and definitely obligation). His love for her is definitely an extension of his love for Louis though where Louis loves her singularly.

i think what hurts most about madeleine's 'are we on trial' is that she's been on trial before at the end of the war and judged by the people and convicted - its shown in her memories when louis turns her that she was paraded on the street and had her head shaved

I read somewhere that Claudia was written as a way for Anne Rice to mourn/grieve the loss of her young daughter that she lost from leukemia. Claudia’s death is tragic because she was supposed to live a full life and be a woman they way she yearned to be and deserved to, but never got the chance to, in the same way her late daughter never got to grow old and become a woman, mother, etc

It's why the original IWTV book exists in the first place. It was a way to process her grief through Louis's loss of Claudia (based on her real daughter Michel, who died of leukemia at age 5 I believe) and Paul.

one thing i loved about this episode is when we get the flashback to the fight, and we see louis being completely unhinged and scary, you understand why raglan told daniel "you fear armand, you should fear the other one". louis' relationship with vampirism is complex but he IS still a vampire at the end of the day, and he is capable of being just as brutal and vicious as all the other vampires we've seen in the series

I think even the coven knew that Madeline hadn't broke any laws. That's why they kept her in a trance for the whole trial. They kind of wanted to keep her out of it in case she decided to take up their offer to join the coven. Notice, they didn't beat her either. Claudia got the worst of the pre trial beating because she was actually a member of the coven.

Yeah I think she was numb as I don't think she realised her heels had been cut until she fell trying to get to Claudia. I think the theatre coven would find it impossible to understand the connection between Claudia and Madeleine because none of them actually love each other. They might have fleeting relationships with each other, but they're bound together by laws and never ending routine. Nothing more. They're horrible, but also so tragic.

They're following the books, with tweaks here and there. So season 3 will be adapted from "The Vampire Lestat" (focused on Lestat), and 'Queen of the Damned" after. They have tons of back story and new vampires to cast from Anne Rice's vampire chronicles (13 complete books), so all your questions will be answered. :-) Hopefully they don't mess it up!

Kind of their Game of thrones moment. I honestly think that Armand is so full of shit. He let it happened! The reason why Claudia's story is so tragic is because it was based of Anne Rices daughter who died at age 5 from a rare blood disease. Louis was pretty much Anne and Lestat was inspired by her husband's charisma, & charmed.

Season 3 has been confirmed. A couple of things to remember before you review the final episode - several of the vampires in the coven, Armand & Lestat have the ability to control minds. Lestat is still weak from his "murder" - in fact it would have killed any other vampire, but Lestat - because of whose blood is coursing through his veins. The book "The Interview with a Vampire" was always about the death of Claudia, more over Anne Rice's difficulty with the death of her own daughter...a death she could not prevent (leukemia). Madeline represented the part of the author who would've chosen to die with her daughter if she could've. In the book - Claudia is a 5 year old with the mind of a 75 year old woman and she senses that Louis is being pulled away from her by Armand. Madeline is a woman who recently lost her child and sees in Claudia a child who cannot die. The racial component to the show is quite fascinating in which the characters of color are put on trial for murder - even though Lestat was still alive. When Lestat tried to accept accountability for his part, the judges refused to hold him accountable and chose the harshest penalties for Claudia & Louis.

It was basically a lynching of 2 black Vampires where they got dehumanized to make them look worse to the audience. Claudia even calls the biased audience when they were having sympathy for Lestat but not her or Louis. Claudia and Louis crying to each when they got separated broke my heart. At least someone finally choose Claudia 💔 The season 2 finale is great.

Is Armand making Louis remember this new version? That whole bit about the head and the lions...I just don't believe it. I've seen several comments that have said Lestat's version of events are to be believed over Louis'. I haven't read the books so I'm not sure why that is the consensus.

I think some versions make sense-Louis confirms Lestat’s take on Claudia’s turning is more accurate than his own. And I can go either way on the fight- I think either way it is very clear that Lestat was still the abuser in their relationship (both Lestat and Louis seem view it that way) and that if this version of the fight is real, Louis takes on an almost Lorena Bobbit role in it. I think pretty much everyone agrees that Lestat is being scripted for the “louis was stalking me” bit, and that bit isnt true at all.

The second book Anne wrote focused on Lestat. She decided to place her effort with him. So, Lestat basically rewrites the first book. Says that Louis did not get somethings right. There is a short chapter in the second book that "corrects" a lot of what was in the first book. Anne realized that Lestat was the character she could tell her story through. Not Louis. She made the right decision. Lestat became a legend. But Louis was always there with Lestat. Anne made sure the readers knew that they were there for each other.

Saying that the writers are going to include Louis in 3rd season. Even though he was NOT in the 2nd book. Is just not accurate. That is what I meant about reading the books. Louis was always there. Seems an insult to say that the writers are adding something that Anne already had in place.

Lestat was changing the story to make himself seem like the victim. He’s 100 years older than Louis and more powerful so there’s no way Louis could overpower him. Same thing with Armand. Armand could have stopped the whole thing if he wanted. He’s more powerful than any of them.

Armand, by the time of Claudia, is NOT more powerful than Lestat. Lestat meets Akasha in his past. She is the 1st Vampire and the most powerful. She shares her blood with Lestat. Making him very powerful. The most powerful after the "twins".... All this will hopefully be shown in future seasons.
