@@mc-inversal7069a pick-me is a woman who obsessively desires male approval and validation, often at the expense of other women or in this case their own children's well-being. In this case Louis is a gay pick me. Willing to throw his daughter Claudia to the wolves in order to get chosen by a man. We have literally seen Armand threatened and physically assault Claudia. Yet when Claudia came to him with her concerns he didn't believe her. Louis is also a pick me for white male approval as well. Which is why the situation with Lestat is so layered. Since the very beginning we have seen Louis forsaken his Christian values and morals by throwing black people under the bus in order to sit in these white spaces. Louis has always been self-righteous and pretentious and loves to be worshiped and adored. Which is why he likes Daniel so much because they're one in the same. I could go on and on but yeah that's basically the gist of it

She can beg, wheedle, whine in a way that an old man made a little B** by his maker (and he was never reciprocated, despite all his adulations and obeisance) that to him, isn't natural. To him, a "little girl," due to his infantilizing notions, his BIGOTRY, makes him feel as if Claudia is of a similar realm to Louis and Armand. Being above the rest of them (likely some innate, underlying racism to it too, the show intending racial symbolism AT LEAST). Where she can have what she wants. And yet she DOESN'T. She knows her worth, she's strong, and when she wants something she WORKS for it. He understands the notion of playing yourself down (in an ironically arrogant notion, but it IS true they both worked at their own ends more diligently than any other vamp character seen thus far, single-minded goal orientation). She doesn't go the route that he despises Louis for; where he can come out of nowhere, flout around without the power dynamics and systems that entrap him at every waking opportunity... though Louis does just that. "Claiming," Armand, taking the dominant role, playing up "false" artistry. Louis is everything he desires, but HATES. While Claudia is everything he desires, but DISDAINS ... I'm only realizing now how damn likeable they made Claudia in this story, she's got so many more "redeeming" qualities to her in the show, aaahhhHHHHHH - Well, both are true for both. The difference is where Santiago's internalized phobias CHOOSE to take root, and direct focus towards. Louis pretension without having the artistic flair and passion that Armand holds, literally refusing to create, being incapable of it, while being art himself - it's this incomplete package to Santiago. While Claudia is also similarly beautiful in her own right (in a way that Santiago could only ever fetishize), at the edge of embracing and understanding artistry, yet so far apart form it due to the stormy, violent individual she is. (I'm saying that with UTMOST respect - Claudia never bothered with the pretense behind artistry, soulfulness, philosophy, considerations of the environment and relations like that. she's always had to be very down-to-earth) Claudia has all this power, that Santiago feels only HE knows, with how she's opened up to him, seeing into her own desire to move on up andd away, into a new mode of living that's been denied of her. And yet, it's with HER - with her having a mask that hides her VICIOUSNESS, rather than her WEAKNESS. She overcame her makers, her demons. And she hustles a janitor sidepiece, while being all THAT? he's awed, frustrated, projecting and living vicariously-through, and so much MORE. It's... okay it's actually BRILLIANT. THE SHOW IS AMAZING. I COULD GO ON FOREVER THERE'S TOO MANY DETAILS AND DETPTSOIRHT AAAAAAAAHHHHHGGGHGHGHGHG
