Such a lovely summary by Milbank of his central social thesis in his response to the question about romanticism. Now if I could put that together with his ontology of peace, I'd understand the outlines of his work, I think. My thanks to whomever posted this; it is a valuable interview.

I`m trying to work my way through his Theology and Social Theory at the moment, difficult but really enlightening.

11:16 Brilliant answer to his question about "romancy". But I would have responded with 2 words: Hagia Sophia The idea of the Knight from the Middle Ages is useful. And similar to the movement in the West of New Monasticism. I think that should be fully developed. *Right Desire* Depersonalization is the right word for Christianity without activism. ❤️

A very helpful summary of RO. Very much preaching to the converted - the emaciated liturgy and aesthetics of Western churches seek what has always been in Eastern and Russian Orthodoxy; as seen on any given Sunday. RO could be seen as one raft between the two.

I think Russian Orthodoxy would frown on Milbank's underlying vitalism as a form of decadence and naturalism.
