I believe I read on the shoe snob blog that Mr. Frei charges 13,000 euros for his most creative "divine" shoes. Could you imagine buying such an artful shoe and actually wearing it? That is obviously the purpose of shoes, but I could not imagine actually stepping on something with a sole like the one pictured in the video.

I don't know if only black shoes are allowed in this competition, but in my opinion, nothing could look better than a brown dress shoe. You can play much more with the shades and tones.

I need these shoes and shoe trees.. His interpretation of Tim Burton, dark leathers, sharp angles and classical music instruments which already pare together like aged wine and aged cheese are spot on. They are an image that speaks to the soul through the eye. These shoes bleed beauty.

LG Kai

Hey Kirby, excellent video as usual. I have a question, as a result of my walking pattern I tend to wear down the outside of my heel towards the back extremely fast, while the inside remains pretty much intact. I've seen where this has led to a totally lopsided heel on older shoes, where the outside of the heel has eroded totally and the rest of the sole and heel in excellent condition. I've recently started to wear good quality higher end shoes and I do not want this to occur (I see where it's already starting to happen). The only solution Ive seen so far are some little rubber heel guards that can be installed and glued and nailed into place. Is this solution recommended? Do you have another solution? Thank you for your assistance.
@xtra-oi9xb6 жыл бұрын
.. a qualified shoe repair shop could simply apply an out side wedge which is carefully and geometrically cut at an appropriate angle utilizing a denser longer wearing synthetic rubberized material which would address your supination issue to some extent. Also , the toplift could be replaced with a custom made combination toplift using a long wearing neoprene material as the lateral wedge. Nylon heel plates are used to protect the heel from supinating but wear down rather quickly. Another more traditional solution to your issue would be a mens leather toplift with a metal V plate cut into lateral area of the lift to hinder wear. If done correctly the leather toplift with V plate is your best choice without having to replace the plates every month or the cut wedge/ combination heel about every two months given your above average propensity to supinate . I have been repairing shoes, leather goods and filling orthopedic prescriptions for over 35 years and counting. Have a good day sir.

@@xtra-oi9xb he needs to learn how to walk, he has same major mechanical deficiencies. that is called inversion, not supination.

Hey Kirby, So I just bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds, some Factory Second Fifth Avenues in Walnut. I initially put on a layer of the Allen Edmonds Walnut premium polish, but after watching a few of your videos, I'd like to immediately switch to the Saphir polishes. What would be the best way to remove that one layer of polish on these brand new shoes so I can begin to use the Saphir renevatour/cream polish, etc.? I have a bottle of Bickmore 1 cleaner that I use for my western boots. Would this be appropriate for the AE shoes? Thanks
@STEViEZHUU6 жыл бұрын
probably the Saphir Reno'Mat

Idk. Seems a bit strong for removing a thing layer of polish on brand new shoes.
@babygerald46456 жыл бұрын
@Andrew: You should check the other videos where Kirby talks about the RenoMat- I think it's on the $50 Allen Edmonds challenge vid. If I recall properly, it will take off the top layer of polish that you just applied without affecting the shoe's original shine/color. Great catch on those factory second 5th Aves. I scored my first AEs [brown Boulevards] the same way about a month ago. I ordered my Saphir polishes and brushes from Hanger Project right after. So glad I caught Kirby's vid and didn't wear them before properly polishing them.
