there's a guy on yt, called 'backyard bowyer" who shoots 80 lb draw weight bows with bare fingers. there's also a guy who can poke holes in GREEN, un-husked coconuts with a single finger. Bruce Lee famously could not only do a 1 armed pushup, but did so with just that hands finger and thumb only! Training can do amazing things, including that of the mind.

Gregg, of season 3 of alone, now has a channel that basically supports him, mostly because Fowler reccommended him. I think that i remember that at one time, Gregg had more followers than Fowler! :-) That's not the case today., so perhaps my memory is flawed. It's happened a lot lately. LOL

they only have 11 hours of show. So the most that they can show any one of 10 people is 1 hour, if all of them stayed the full length of the challenge. Say it lasts 60 days, they can only show ONE minute per day of each of your times. :-) If 5 of you are gone in the first week (never happens) they can show 2 minutes of each of the survivors of that week. IF you know how to do something new to the viewers, you'll get more face time. If you can make a composite bow, for instance, or green wood broadheads, for arrows, your chances of getting more face time on TV increases. If you know how to make the clay-refining pits, the mud kiln, the charcoal, the ceramic pots, their fitted lids, their gasketed tops, you're more likely to get more face time. If you can make fire in any way but the bow drill and ferro rod, that's a new thing that viewers will probably want to see.. If you can stone-boil water, fry food on the shovel-blade, , make replacement handles for the shovel, that's nee to a lot of viewers. Just taking gear that's never before been taken is likely to get you some YT views at least, Such as the duct tape, the reflective tyvek bivy, , the rope hammock. You'll probably be given time to explain why you're taking such things, instead of other things. TV producers are always looking for things that are novel, to attract more viewers.

people dont seem to understand that only half of an animal or fish's live weight is edible flesh. A 10 llb fish offers only 3000 calories, which is just one day's food to lose no weight, and that's if you stay holed-up in your shelter. and you only weigh 200 lbs, dont do much of anything and it's not all that cold. Top swimmers have to eat 10,000 calories per day when in training and they AINT fat! That's how much you CAN burn in cold, wet conditions.

I was unaware of the requirement that the food be stored up in the air, 100m away from your camp, and apparently, you just laughed at that bs, too. So I'd have just made a tarp and tape food-bag and buried the salt-brined "extra' fish and buried it in the cold ground under my shelter. I too, would welcome a bear into my larder (gizzly or not). To clear 350k and to uphold my honor, i'm perfectly willing to face the 1 in 100 chance that the arrowed bear will charge me and my shovel. It only takes me 1 second to drop the bow and pull the shovel out of my belt. That's how I would have it as prep for such a shot. I've practiced fast draw of a throwing knife from my belt since 1964, I switched to drawing a gun a year or so later. The first time somebody challenged me to drop a coin, draw an SA "revolver" (CO2) from my holster, cock and click the gun before the coin hit the ground, I was 15. The coin was still knee-high when I did so. My 25 yo brother had challenged me and said "My GOD" LOL. That coin drop, from waist height, takes .55 second and does not include the gunman's .20 second "reaction-time".

Sorry, but I think that to expect the producers to give Peter's 8 days more than a blip of, time on the show is not fair to others who lasted much longer. this season or any in the past. People who freeze and starve for 70 days have more coming to them than somebody who fell-out of contention in 8 days and it wasnt even freezing as of yet. You get to take 10,000 calories of rations and you can mix in 2000 more calories of cambium. You certainly dont need to eat the first or last day, so you could have eaten 2000 calories per day. That's not starving (when it's not even cold yet). The rations and the cambium ARE part of my gear and strategy, so I believe it's fair to point that out in this consideration of his performance.

Almost everything is riding upon what 10 items you take and WAY too few know what to take, because they also dont know what to do.. if you're relying on fish as your sustainment, you need to eat 4 lbs of (cooked) fish per day. Only half of a fish's live weight is edible flesh, so that's 8 lbs of live weight fish that should go into your belly. If he'd stone-boiled the fish, all at once, in a pit lined with the tyvek bivy, he could have just eaten the fish before they spoiled. He didn't really have that much of that resource to bother with.smoking it.

I"ve never understood this baloney about making dream catchers, chairs, jewelry, musical instrucments. If you have free time out there, you should be making things that contribute to your survival, or at least, have interest to viewers. Maybe they sell those items after they go home? I know Fowler did so with his carved wooden spoons.
