Although when it floods, it's common to find crocodiles a few miles from rivers in little pomds of water and creeks in random areas.

Crocs don't keep in touch with family, they eat smaller crocs. They lay eggs and plenty of them hatch, 'cause most die young. Folk that work on cattle stations with creeks, have to be careful. Crocs learn when they come by, and wait until they need more food. They strike after folk think they aren't there anymore. A girl I met, was on the way to school, walking along a river, with a bunch of other kids, saw a log go down, thought that's strange. Looked again and started running, asked why, she said a croc is coming. Got to school, nobody believed her. The teachers said lovely day lets go outside, sit under trees. A few classes were out there. Croc came in the gate, everybody started running, croc came for her, nearly got her foot, started going around the building standing up to see in, hissing in windows. The authorities came with a small truck and caught it, took it away, hanging over the end of the truck. Then they finally asked her how she knew? That was Townsville, Queensland, Aussie, on the Ross River. Around 30 or more years ago. The school is no longer there.

It launched itself out of the water and chased me the length of my house. It was only a 5 footer but I wasn't taking any chances. Someone must have been feeding it, and that makes it dangerous. You must assume every pond, lake, creek and river have gators. Some Nile crocs got loose in southern Florida and there are indigenous salt water crocs there too.

Think about: these crocodiles are living in a part of Australia that's EXTREMELY desolate. There's probably not an abundance of prey there, so they've evolved to survive on less food, but when a sure thing LITERALLY drops into their laps??? 🫣 It's fucked up, but these young men were a sure thing for this creature who hadn't had a good meal in who knows how long. That's why it waited. Tragic that they had to witness their friend go out like that. I'm sure they've been forever changed by the experience... What I wonder is whether it was alone...I mean in the story they say it was ONE croc, but how could they be sure? That might have been three different fuckin crocodiles! Lol! This was dope. I'm subbed to Mr. B's page and had already seen this story some time ago. It was fun seeing ya'll react to it. DEFINITELY one of the more memorable ones.

Crocs fight each other for spots, when the water rises, they can go wider, but don't go up or down river, they wait for Barramundi to come up-river to lay eggs. They stash prey under logs or river banks for later. Don't stand closer than 3 feet to the edge, they can come out and get you very, very fast. If you want water, get a bucket, with 6 feet of rope on the handle, throw it in and pull it back out. Breaking the water's surface can trigger a croc to snap. You will not see a croc underwater, they go down without a ripple, though when they call, the water on their back looks like it boils, they sound like bulls bellowing. If there are no cattle around, where you are, it's crocs. If camping, Sleep in a car off the ground, not under your truck or the stars, or in a tent. They can follow you overland so get outta there if you see one, they can rear up, jump and get you high up. Whatever they grab, they roll until it stops breathing. When the wet season ends, the water pools, and each pool has a resident croc. As the pools dry up, crocs move and fight over the bigger pools. It never freezes there, or snows, that only can happen in the bottom half of aussie, there is no safe season. Crocs take fish off rods if you catch something.
