Buttermilk is without a doubt my favorite pie! Ms. T, I’ve been meaning to give you an update, it’s hard to beleive the BIG strides I’ve made with Gods help & direction. My lowest weight when I finished radiation & chemo was 140 pounds. Keep in mind that I’m 6’3”, & now I’m around 190, & I got my doctors release to go back to work. I called up my old company, & they are just the BEST people to work for, treated me like family. And they are putting me back to work this coming week!! I’m so overjoyed & excited!! God is so GOOD!!

A favorite in the Amish and Mennonite community. My mother and grandmother made Buttermilk Pies for every occasion. Always took them to church suppers. It is a unique pie. Not lemon, not custard, not weird. Just delicious. Thanks for sharing this again.

I can clearly remember my first time ever having this pie. I was either 13 or 14. My grandmother had made it. I saw it, asked about it, and she gave me a piece. I can't remember if she told me what it was before or after I ate it, but I loved it. I then learned how to make it. I might have seen the pie before in my life, but it didn't catch my eye until that day. I have other pie preferences these days (my favorite custard type pie is a lemon chess), but I'll certainly never turn down a piece of buttermilk pie if offered. Even more important than the great taste is the great memories it brings with it.

Oh boy, how my family loves buttermilk pie. My granny raised us on it. You just made me hungry for buttermilk pie. I know I got to make it. We can not find whole buttermilk anywhere in our stores. I have looked and looked.

@inthekitchenwithtallifaye4724 it is crazy. We live in New Mexico. Walmart does not have whole buttermilk, Smith's doesn't have it, and Albertsons doesn't have it. Those are about the only grocery stores we have here. I've kind of learned that the southern states have the whole buttermilk. Not our side of the states. We used to get whole buttermilk over here. My side of the family are from the Southern States. It's sad over here in the western states. Especially the southwestern.

I had a buttermilk pie one time it can never find the recipe for it. Someone brought it to the cookout, but everybody brought it dish, and that buttermilk pie was out of this world. I hope yours is too.

Buttermilk is pure magic. Any time that I see a recipe with it, I want to try that recipe & I surely will try this pie. I've made buttermilk candy, Texas sheet cake, coffeecakes (differeent recipes & its better than sour cream), and even cornbread w. buttermilk in it. Thanks for posting this pie recipe!

Oh, I love that you use a silicone spatula!! That is one of my favorite tools in the kitchen, and so many recipes people use metal, spoons and hard plastic and make such a racket on the video, scraping stuff out of metal and glass bowls, but it drives me nuts!!!! it comes out so loud on a video. I just asked my fiancé if he’s ever had a buttermilk pie he said he’s heard of it so I am definitely going to make that sometime this week, I believe my mama made this when I was a kid and I used to say I’m not gonna taste it because I hated buttermilk. But I’m 64 years old now and I don’t think I’m afraid to taste it so I’m gonna make it looks delicious and I love your videos Tally Faye!!!❤

Yum! I have such a hard time finding whole buttermilk. I used to be able to get it at H‑E‑B, but for the last several months, they’ve only had low fat. I have a request…Will you make the Chicken Cobbler that’s made with Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuit mix? Apparently, it’s been a viral recipe. I think you can find it by searching viral chicken cobbler. Talli Faye I’m 85 been making buttermilk pies since teenager inherited the recipe from my mom. My husband would not eat it if we called it buttermilk so we called custard pie and he loved it.

Talli, please don't be mad at my question, but can we use whole milk and add vinegar to give us a buttermilk substitute? Us Midwestern folks weren't taught to cook with buttermilk often so we will add vinegar to our whole milk. My dad is turning 85 on Monday and I really, really want to make this pie for him!

@@jessicarobinson1133 No way would I be mad!!… My suggestion would be to use lemon juice instead of vinegar, simply because this pie has lemon in it anyway!…. I’ve never tried using the back up recipe for buttermilk on this pie so I’m not positive of the outcome but I always tell yall..Don’t be scared 😂 ♥️…. Let your milk mixture set really well before using it in the pie so that it will be kinda separated from the acidic reaction in the whole milk♥️♥️♥️♥️

Someone else asked me about this earlier and not that I’ve ever tried it BUT… I would absolutely do the lemon in the milk… just make sure and give it a little extra time while you’re getting everything together for the lemon to do its thing in the milk… AND… go ahead and use your lemon juice as instructed in the recipe…. You don’t taste the lemon in the milk mixture anyways!… Don’t be scared lol!🤣😍♥️
