As you were talking about the day and having a good day, I couldn't help but think about, Psalm 118:24: "This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." We got some nice cold weather this week, and now I'm looking forward to some rainy weather next week. I enjoy the rain, and I'm sure we need it. In Texas, we pretty much need to take rain when we can get it. That mixer noise didn't bother me at all. I know it's part of the process. Can't wait for the fruit jam video. As a boy who was raised on homemade jams/jellies/preserves, I love seeing it, and like you said, I always imagine what it will be like on a hot buttered biscuit. That cake and frosting combination sounds great to me. Really enjoyed the conversation and you taking us through the cake process. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. May your heart be filled with joy, that's much better than happiness anyway.

Ms. Tali Faye, I have to give a shout out to the Texas Chocolate Sheet cake I made yesterday from your recipe. It is no doubt the best cake I’ve ever baked or tasted. I followed your recipe all the way. The difference I did: Because of storing this cake, I baked in a 9 x 13 cake pan that has a cover. I baked at 400 for 15 minutes and turned oven down to 375 and baked another 10 minutes. I toothpick checked every so often. I cannot believe how moist this cake is. Is it the butter or buttermilk? I don’t know but I will be passing this recipe around. This is truly a made from scratch recipe and nothing store bought can come close. Thank you precious lady. They gave my Moma 6 months and she lived a wonderful life for 6 more years!.. Applesauce cake. Brings back childhood memories of my grandmother. She made an applesauce with walnuts. Walnuts from her trees on the farm. She cooked and baked on a wood burning stove. I’m 80 and have so many great memories.

Hi Talli Faye! I just ate the coconut cake! I used Cool Whip for the frosting and sprinkled the coconut on top. 😉 I also made it bakery style with butter and milk. Delicious. I also made the green Chile stew. I used Mccormick Beef Stew mix, because I like it so much. I only put the small can of green chili's. Loved it. It seemed like they helped the Stew meat to be most tender! Next time, I want to put the larger chilis in! 😊 I'm addicted to the Waldorf Salad! I've made it several times! A Delicious way to get your fruit! 😊 God Bless ❤

Hearing you talking about not wanting bananas overpowering your fruit sauce makes me want to share something I did once. I make my own applesauce frequently, sometimes making it into apple butter (usually for pie-yummy!) or sometimes into a fruit sauce. One time I had just one banana so was trying to figure out what to do with it. My banana bread & muffins both take 2 or 3 so I decided to put it into a big pot of applesauce. and see how it came out. There wasn't enough to be able to taste the flavor but I was so surprised to see the change in the texture. The applesauce came out with a silky texture, so different than normal! I don't know how one single banana could change the texture without the flavor coming through at all but it did. I didn't make it into a jam, just ate it as applesauce but it was really good. I thought it was a fluke so did try it again but it did do the same thing. I still don't know how it worked but won't argue with a treat! I agree with the difference between icing & frosting! It reminds me of the way I distinguish the difference between batter or dough! I'd call the cake am Apple Butter Spice Cake. I tend to use recipes as an idea to personalize to my taste. I used to chew at my Grandma when I tried to write down her 'recipes' asking how to write down a little bit of this, enough of that to make the texture right, just enough of that to make the right color, etc... The first time one of my friends wanted one of my recipes & asked, Do you ever write a recipe down/use a recipe?? I knew I made it & turned into Grandma and was a great cook! Now that I'm a Grandma I cook the same way!

I think I would call it Talli Faye's Conversation Cake. What a great idea for an applesauce variation cake. I have tons of jams and jellies and I think this recipe will work great with them. I have some fairy plum jam I made that I think will work wonders with it. I might even try making cupcakes with them instead of the cake. That way I can freeze them and not be tempted to eat every one of them in one day lol. The possibilities are limited to the jams/jellies you have on hand. If Buzz doesn't like this one., next time, instead of allspice, try two teaspoons of apple pie spice. Or, depending on the season, try pumpkin pie spice or mix it up. 1 teaspoon of allspice and one of the apple or pumpkin pie spice. So many possibilities.

Technically Frosting is thick and icing is thin that you can pour like a glaze. So that’s a frosting or whatever you want to call it. I say whatever that comes out of my mouth. 😂 Your cake looks delicious. Love your videos. ❤

This was a very interesting recipe. I've never been an apple butter fan but the way you made the frosting sounds like it will go very well with the cake. I had to chuckle when you started moving the butter around in the metal pan with that metal spoon because you had already said y'all hold your ears cause this mixer is gonna be loud. I have a good name for your cake that uses the fruit salad jam (rather than applesauce). You can call it Fruits of the Forest Spice Cake! And thank you for the demo on making browned butter.
