I wouldn't say he's living a life of luxury but it is at the expense of others, its more like surviving at the expense of others. A good psychological analysis of a fictional character. I see the bat, Lucille, as his representation of strength just as his wife Lucille was his source of strength. That persona of strength is transferred to the bat. That's why when he escapes, that's his first priority, to try and regain that strength. Just to realize that it just represents the strength he has in his memory of Lucille but it's definitely a coping mechanism.

Sherry probably had the best take on Negan and his leadership style. She and Dwight weren't exactly good people either, as they betrayed Daryl even after he returned to help them. But in her letter she reflects that living with the Saviors wasn't better than being dead. Under Negan, her husband she once loved became a dark, cruel person, while she herself ended up in a harem - both out of necessity to survive, yet at the cost of their conscience. I think this speaks for most Saviors. They didn't want to be there or do the things they did - they only obeyed under the threat of pain and terror. Negan and his twisted system changed people into animals in the process. It's ironic how he coped by thinking he was saving people, calling the place Sanctuary, when in reality he enslaved them and it was a prison.
@nomad958411 ай бұрын

@nodiggity94726 ай бұрын
@@nomad9584 That wasn't what he was doing though. He was re-establishing society along a historically successful model. In another ten years, The Saviours regime would have established a semi autonomous federation of self sufficient settlements, with trade links to other outlying settlements, sharing resources and skills just like early medieval feudalism. Negan didn't 'rule' people through fear and violence, he led people by being able to offer them protection, shelter, and community when everything else had fallen apart. Negan's innate leadership skills made him leader. And as a leader, he was better than any of them. Rick's leadership skills and poor decision making almost got everyone killed, time after time. And I'm not hating on Rick, but psychologically, he's been far too close to the edge for anyone to have to rely on said good judgement.

Yeah well that shows what hypocrites Dwight and Sherry were. 1. They chose to follow the Saviours. They chose to stay there and they chose to steal from them in the first place. They stayed until it was too late. Every worker of soldier was free to leave at any time. 2. It was different with Sherry because she "sacrifieced" herself for her husband but the other women did it all ro have a better life than the normal worker. And they had. 3. They did not particular enslave anybody. It was basically a System where you have to work to earn points for supplies. Its like working for money these days. Although it wasnt always fair but slavery would mean that they werent allowed to leave at anytime, which was never the case. 4. The System the saviours had was way superior than the ones of Alexandria, Oceanside, Hilltop and even the Kingdom. More people joined them and without the endless plot armour Ricks group had, all their communities would be wiped out by the saviour army in no time in a "normal world" 5. In a world with no laws the superior group has to reign with fear for their own protection. Negan wasnt a psychpath. Everything he did, if good or bad, he did under a well calculated purpose 6. The system of especially Alexandria and Hilltop wouldnt work in reality. A few people go scavenging and are responsible for the whole food of the community and all the food and security and all the others contribute basically nothing besides rare cases like doctors or blacksmiths but everyone has the same access to every supply than the people who do all the work (especially when they didnt grew their own vegetables and fruits at the beginning). That would cause riots in a "normal world". Atleast at the Kingdom most of the people had "jobs" so everyone contributed. 7. A superior group demanding 25-50% of the supplies from weaker groups to let them live sounds harsh but would be the most normal thing in a post apocalytic world with no laws.

The reason why I like Negan the most is that he instills the fear that most people have failed to accomplish. Most people would do out of pocket things such as rape, cannibalism or even killing randoms all the time. I know that Negan does have strangers killed at times but it's like a domino effect. You take what you deserve. Negan does believe people are a resource but the way he goes about it is that if you disrespect me, I'll disrespect you even harder. Negan DOES NOT allow insubordination and loves to physiologically torture his victims to his subjective abuse to keep them in line. Negan is not a physcopath or a sociopath, he's a strategic and charismatic asshole. Negan has always had that " dog " in him or like Joaquan Phoenix said as Joker in 2019 film, " Joker " to Maury out of frustration " going werewolf. " Negan was still hesitant to evolve himself into a monster until Lucille's death (Negan's wife) and being treated like a bitch by that one guy who threatened his livelihood if he didn't forfeit over the information to where he was getting the medical supplies for his cancer-riddened wife. Those events turned Negan into the tyrant he needed to be. Negan killed Abraham because Abraham did not fear Negan at all and Glenn to send a message to not fuck with him, as him saying that he is a man of his word after the 2nd warning to not mess around with him or you'll find out what'll happen next. Negan's actions at times can be considerably questionable but at heart, he is the epiphany of what it means to rule and having others serving themselves under your thumb. We all love or hate Negan but we must fathom over the abundant fact of how outstandingly clever and majestic Jeffrey Dean Morgan is at bringing this character to life from the comic panels. I loved seeing Negan on the big screen and how he acts from his introduction to the end of Season 11 as it most definitely wrapped up his character. I wish they had shown him putting flowers on Lucille's grave as he had did in the comics but nonetheless, the head nod to Daryl perfectly wraps up his story arc for me honestly. A man that has experienced so much from confrontations to war to meeting his match to his downfall is the perfect embodiment of what it means to survive in this broken world. There won't be another villiain like Negan because Negan is the one and only leather jacket Lucille-swinging badass of the zombie apocolypse.

Negan is more of an anti-hero than an actual villain. We see him as a villain because we're introduced to him at a time when he was trying to catch a band of killers who had murdered a bunch of his people while they slept. He's not evil, just supremely capable.
@inthemindofavillain Жыл бұрын
Hmm anti-villain at most imo, in light of the way he treated those under him. But yes I do see how he had to take some measures against Rick's group too.
@nodiggity9472 Жыл бұрын
@@inthemindofavillain He really did too. Up until that point, all we knew of Negan is what we're told by Gregory, a cowardly, but ambitious man. The Saviours are painted as plundering brigands, taking whatever they liked at gunpoint, bleeding communities dry, yada yada yada, by Gregory, who's wheedling and access to drugs, persuaded Rick's group to carry out an assassination attack on the Saviours. The rest is WD history. But the story was paced just fast enough not to be focused on the details, but still layered with consequences that we see playing out even now, 15 years later. One of Negan's best qualities is the way he can effortlessly assume the mantle of control, simply by being able to. He takes responsibility as easily and naturally as most people take a nap. But he never seeks position, and he has no problem when he doesn't have authority. And he always, without fail, accepts responsibility for the consequences of his actions. . The moral quandary of this is what I think Maggie is struggling with. Glen was okay. He was a good guy. But he made a terrible decision. When the attack on the Saviours took place, Glen had never killed anyone. Not in anger, not in self defence, not ever. In six seasons. Then when he actually does kill someone, it's cold blooded murder. He cuts the throat of a sleeping man. . And Negan was the direct consequence of that night. And within the context of TWD World, Negan was Justice personified. He took personal responsibility for delivering Justice for *his* people. He's not just a casually murderous tyrant, he's a true leader. Just as Rick was a leader. Consequences, like Herpes, never go away.

You have to be cold and ruthless in this world in order to get results and you’re always going to gain enemies and rub people the wrong way for being that way. We’re not perfect or angels in this world, but neither is the world itself. You have to adapt to survive by almost any means necessary.

Trauma, specifically a trauma which changes the perception somebody has about the world, about society, and about morality. This is what creates a monster, leading somebody to reject the rules within society and rebel, choosing to break any rule they wish, or even setting their own rules to live by, and build their life based upon. There is one great example of a trauma, one that can cause people this feeling of betrayal by the systems in place. This trauma is caused by false rape allegations, as the effect it can have will leave a person feeling conflicting emotions, changing how they feel and want to respond constantly due to the good memories they have of their accuser. Ah, anyway I’m rambling, to those who don’t believe me though? That’s how I feel, God the situation that unfolded around the whole thing led to a lot of people being hurt and cutting me off. The town I live is like a fucking graveyard. Now after my little rant, I shall bit you adeu.

Lucille didn't believe he abandoned her. She wanted to release him from the responsibility of her illness and allow him to be free. "Please Don't Leave Me Like This" is about her being turned and being a walker. She knew he would be back and wanted him to know she loved him and knew he would return to put her down and let her go.

Here's something you guys never thought about: Negan had set his dead wife on fire but as we've seen throughout the series, fire doesn't fully kill the walkers. If Negan were to visit his old house, she'll be there wanting to chomp on him

I think that is 100% Negan backtracking in his “development”. He has to stop passing the buck every time his actions are too harshly reflected back at him. And even if it were an act (definitely wasn’t), he did not have to choose that persona. Ezekiel didn’t.
@Steger1310 ай бұрын
@@fallgirl07 so you think that he will go on a war again maybe Maggie again turning back to the old Negan? I personally dont think so at all.
@fallgirl0710 ай бұрын
@@Steger13 Maybe a little but I doubt it will happen in any meaningful way. I was speaking more towards people believing what he said was the actual truth versus what he tells himself is the truth to deal with the guilt. The persona thing, the whole “how many fathers have you killed” thing. All of that is deflecting, to me at least. I honestly think TPTB mean for us to take it as the honest truth, which saddens me.

She knew he would come back that why she wrote the text on the door He also didmt run away from responsibilities regarding Lucille. I will always see Negan as a psychopath, no matter how much his fans defend him. Leaving aside the issue of whether Rick attacked him first (I consider it a mistake on the part of the scriptwriters, not the character; not only because he doesn't do it in the comic, but because it goes against everything we have seen of him throughout the series: Rick never attacks first), the truth is that Negan did the same on Hilltop, in the Kingdom and in Oceanside. It was his modus operandi: attack a community, kill some people to spread terror, and enslave the rest. He would have done the same thing in Alexandria, no matter what Rick did, or even if he had been eaten by cannibals and wasn't even there. Plus, it's not just that he kills people, he enjoys it, he laughs at the way Glenn's eyeballs fall out of his face... the kind of thing only a psychopath would do. But more importantly, the way he treats his own people: forcing them to kneel in his path, burning their faces if they were "disobedient", hoarding supplies and distributing them unfairly, prostituting women... Does anyone care? Imagine Rick burning Daryl's face because he did something he didn't like? Offering Maggie extra food if she fucks him, and then rubbing Glenn's face with "I'm going to bed to fuck your wife"? Keeping all the food while everyone else goes hungry? Don't buy the Redemption Arc from him. It is not believable that someone like that would change, and besides, he never seems sorry for what he did. He continues to maintain that he was right.
