Thank you Hoda. For choosing sizes of canvases, see Quick Tip 353. As to your other questions, different galleries have different requirements. Many painters choose primed linen canvas surfaces because of its reputation for longevity and durability. However, canvas makers have come a long way in recent years for refining the process of making high quality cotton canvases. As to affordability in London, I have no idea since I am not familiar with the art supply stores in London. For that one, you need to do research.
