Just incase anyone can't get into a store - For sizing as someone who works for the company, we tend to recommend women sizing down in anything unisex, so a classic 1460, 1461, 2976 (the Chelsea boot) or a 101. You can tell if a shoe is unisex based on the size range - if it goes beyond a size 9 UK, it will be unisex. Pascal and Polly are a women's fit shoe so are more likely to be 'true to size'. If you're between sizes we normally recommend going for the smaller size as we only do UK 6.5 and 9.5, leather tends to stretch quite dramatically if needed so you'll get much longer out of your shoes if you allow the time to break them in. Just make sure you have enough room at the front, they'll get wider, not longer. Wearing shoes that are too big will just cause the leather to dry out and crack as it's being over worked and creased far too aggressively. The Vegan range as a whole should be pretty true to size, as they're made from a man-made polymer they don't have the flexibility that leather has. They also won't stretch anywhere near as much so don't aim for a tighter shoe if you're opting for the vegan collection. (Amazing video btw :) )

Helin‘s Suga ok really cheap way of dealing with blisters and how to avoid them... Take 2 cotton rounds... Yes hear me out lol TAPE THEM on the exact spot where u get blisters lolol ik bear with me Then just wear your socks and it'll be fine! I'm so glad this works out for me my feet were suffering

my biggest tip was integrating what members in the military do(if they still wear steal toed leather boots) is making sure the ball of your foot fits nicely in the shoe for sizing, and lacing up your boots so the string at the top is under the side flaps to ensure tight lacing. my first time wearing my boots i wore them to walk around candy cane lane-which is going to a neighborhood that has christmas lights here in the states- and i was surprised my feet didn't hurt at all. the more i wear them, the more i'm able to wear thicker socks for winter

I’ve just got my first pair. I walked a mile in them yesterday with thick socks on but they probably weren’t thick enough. And no blister plasters. I have a huge big ouch on my foot now.

Oh no!! Make sure if they are thick socks that they also are socks that don’t move around too much too or else maybe you’ll get a blister too.

Sadly docs are pretty hard to break in and it might take 5+ wears to get there. But once broken in are so comfortable! It’s eventually worth all the pain. I’ve actually bled through socks breaking in docs but would do it again lol

Two Tips for breaking in boots (in general) from my family and a nice lady at the shoes store: -if you feel a heat of sorts in a certain area (probably at the heel or outside of the foot) it’s from friction and you’re probably getting a lister or going to get one there -a lot of shoe stores sells these really really thick socks. Mine are from the Wolverine brand, they’re gray wool I think. Fricking lifesavers.

@@momin9739 i own a pair of dr martens (the sinclair platform) that are a little big as well and I CANT WEAR THEM LONGER THAN 30 MINS!!! Such a pain in the a** but you see, the loose fit is exactly the problem, mine will always turn my heel into a bloody hell, i'm so sad :( There are those things, i dont know how to call them in english, but you're supposed to glue them inside your shoe somewhere around the heel area to prevent your foot/heel from slipping up and down inside the shoe. these things helped me a lot but i still can't where this pair of docs longer than 1-2 hours..

Tip for stretching them out heat up the leather first with a hair dryer (but don't order heat them just a nice warming) to open the pores then pack as many socks as possible into them. They also make shoe stretchers that you can use.

I've got the blaire sandals, and since my foot is a half size, the sandals fit slightly larger for me. What I do is I buckle it to the 1st or 2nd hole so that my foot is in the middle of the sandal, and it usually works for me but you're right about the sizes for the sandals. I would have gotten a smaller size if I was buying it brand new but I got mine second hand (and in good condition) and it's pretty fine for me. :)

i remember with my pascals i packed them with moist newspaper-paper and left them overnight, for me that did the trick! ive always had trouble finding cool shoes that go with my high arches, but this worked for me. also, the vegan docs are basically plastic (vegan leather bby) so theyre really tough to break in. id suggest just sizing up amd wearing some thick socks with them i guess. i also suggest conditioning them (with vegan leather conditioner obviously) to soften them up a bit, softening them enough should make them a bit more stretchy (:

as an ex dancer my biggest tip for filling out docs that are too big is to use lambs wool and pointe shoe toe pads at the front to fill that extra space! extra cushiony and the toe pads can be washed if they start getting gross :)

Hi! Can u give advice to people with Jadon Hi‘s? They are a tiny bit loose & rub my heel awfully. When I walk my heel is like hitting the hard leather?? I’ve had them for half a year & I still can’t wear them without plasters. Idk what to do :(

Helin‘s Suga did you get them true to size or did you size down? they sound like they may be too big for you! Consider an insole or some thick doc socks! I would also purchase dubbin to put inside the shoe to help break it in. If this fails, try and sell them on Depop and get the size down maybe. I am a UK size 6 and I wear a UK size 5 in all my docs

Rebecca Rose I have a problem with sizing most of the time...I am a European 39/40. 40 is too big most of the time 39 always too small too. I really hate it...the docs are pretty loose on my feet but when I try to wear thick socks the heel rubs worse, so maybe insoles are a better solution but I fear my foot will get heightened & my heel will get closer to the rubbing point (tighter). Maybe I should try at least.

I love that you're still responding to comments to this very day. I know that must take a lot of effort :) Also, question... My Jadons that I bought about a week ago are really shredding my heels/achilles tendons. How long did it take you to fully break your Jadons in, especially the heel area?

Of course!! They did the same to me in the beginning. Took about a week or so but just wear them for short periods and they should be okay! If you get crazy blisters etc, wait until they are healed to wear them again!

When breaking my docs in I used blister plasters and then covered those in a layer or two of tape. And then just walk.

Hi Jenn, thanks for the video, it was really helpul. I have a doubt. I bought a pair of Clarissa Quad sandals, the size below mine as all the reviews suggest. The size is ok and the foot fits just right, but I feel like it would be better if the skin widened a bit. Does the material tend to stretch with use? I'm afraid I'll change up a size and it will be too big because I don't like to see sandals that are too big either. What do you suggest? Thanks a lot :)

Thanks for this, really informative. Dr. Martens have been a favorite of mine for years now. I did a lot of research on the brand before I got my first 1460s and became a big fan. They're a gorgeous shoe. My favs that I have now are the Carmelita in tan. I feel really powerful in them, and they're so comfortable. I'm gonna get a nice platformed pair next.

I showered in my 1460’s and it broke them in In one day! There’s virtually no glue in them so it doesn’t hurt them and they form to your feet. If you don’t believe me look up leather stretching! It works wonders to stretch and break them in

Just got my first pair i am size 4.5 and the shop lady said to go for size 4 as the size 5 looked a bit bulky and way too long. the size 4 fit great everywerhe other than the top of my foot over the top where the laces end and toe box start, ive walked in them and so cnnot return and really hoping its possble to stretch this area :( any tips/experience with tightness in this area??

I just got my second pair yesterday for Christmas (iced pink 1461s, I love my 1461 shoes lol) and I was surprised to find the label on the back, as my 1461 black monos don't have them. I did buy the monos in store so I'm wondering if that's just the style?

For everyone having problems with docs (breaking them in, durability etc) I highly recommend trying solovair boots! Same look, better quality. ;) Also, I only got mine a little over a week ago and they're pretty fucking comfortable already, 0 blisters, walk all day on them

Jenn do you have any insight about if doc Martens fit differently when manufactured from different parts of the world, or even just in different colors? I have the white 2976 quad Chelseas (made in China) and I LOVE them, they were comfy and roomy on me right out of the box, I hardly had to do any breaking in. I recently just got the same exact shoes but in black from depop (made in Vietnam), and they feel much more stiff and narrow and are pretty painful to wear. I'm at a loss since they are the same exact shoe but feel so different?

i my second pair of docs 2 weeks ago and i’m usually a 6 1/2 or a 7 and i went up to an 8 and they fit like a glove and i have had almost no pain breaking them in (only as much as a normal shoe)

Jadons are the best right!! The quads are definitely amazing so maybe try them. So easy to put on and off too! Sinclair’s are also cool but very close to Jadons. Hope you figure out a cool new pair!!

buy them from solaris! docs switched manufacturers and fall apart, but solaris was the original company that made them and they still hold up like they used to. i fucked up and didn't do that, my Jadens had the zipper split, the inside wear out, after only a year and it's very common for the soles to come off for a lot of styles.

A good way of breaking in dr martens is to warm them up, coat them in mink oil, let it sit for 10-30 minutes, wipe them down, and then wear them. You can break them in in a day.I saw it on a KZbin video and tried it myself it works great. I believe the KZbinr is called anvil rose. It also makes the leather look much better in my opinion.

Only use mink oil if you dont care about getting the boots shiny. It will also dakren the leather. I'd recommend red wing classic mink oil tbh
