How does this channel not have into the millions of Subs? Seriously one of the best music production podcasts/channels out there!

Thank you so much for this! I thought that interviews on this level of detail about music production, creative process, etc. didn't existed. Glad I found your channel!!

Love this discussion and the question structure too- super inspiring to hear the process and what inspires people and thanks for asking in a way that allows the artist to breathe with their explanation 😊

I actually think that this channel would sky rocket if you put the full episodes out. I know you may have issues with copy write in songs so you’d need to figure that out but I think you’d be in the millions of subs if you had full length pods up.

This podcast (and this particular episode) is excellent. I’ve learned SO much and John asks such great questions. It just gets so in the weeds in the best way possible. So many artists I love like Bon Iver, Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend, Phoebe Bridgers, Dayglow, etc, etc. I would kill to hear break their stuff down on here. There’s a new guy starting to make waves named Mc.Kee that would be awesome on here too. One of the most interesting guitar sounds I’ve ever heard as a guitarist. Anyways keep up the great work!

@@TapeNotesPodcast Oh geez. I typo’d the heck out of that. I meant Mk.gee who played guitar for Dijon but just released some solo stuff. He’s been a bit of a hot topic around the guitar community because his guitar sound so unique and his songs are just really cool. Here’s a link to his most popular video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGHTq62hpZ1oY7Msi=ucGx1V0ecmlIsB9W Also want to say thanks for having the 1975 on TWICE. My favorite band and those episodes were soooo good.

she kind of reminds of paul mccartney in the way she tinkers and experiments, and with how prolific she is as well. artists like that can't help but create all the time.

Hmmmm…I have been a fan of hers for awhile. Finally saw her live for her Daddy’s Home tour and have actively been a St Vincent cheerleader for some time but this interview, what she said, made me feel shitty about the best way I am able to make music …w/o a Neve Console, w/o a room full of HW synths, drum machines and outboard gear. If I had those things I would certainly forego my current setup. But alas, I am not that lucky. I am left to slog through making music the way others check their emails. 😞 I feel shitty.

kinda reminds of when I heard Tori Amos say something about recording something in a field at the base of a mountain and when I listened to it , it just sounded like everything else. Something tells me Annie was always rich. Some people shouldn't be interviewed and just put out records. I make music "in the box" as well, don't feel shitty. we all aren't "all born rich"

@@deadstellarengine I'm sure she's connected in many ways other than just being from a wealthy family. She's brilliant, but she's also been propped up for sure. I don't think she's saying it's a bad thing that other's make music with plugins ... I think she just prefers the gear.

I don't think she grew up especially wealthy, and she recorded most of her first album in her childhood bedroom.
