Add me to the I bought my Ultra because of Chris club and I love it. Like a lot of guys I thought I needed a bigger model but the price couldn't be justified for the size of my operation. I didn't think the Ultra would be much of an improvement from my old box store type splitter. Then I came across Chris' videos and boy was I wrong. The Ultra has been a total came changer for me. My production is more than twice as fast as what it used to be. Long live Eastonmade! Dave

Bought my ultra as well after watching this channel. I'm at a few hundred cords myself and I love it. The only thing I don't like is the bottom plate that bolts into the ram head and rides underneath the steel beam. I only split pine and I've broken multiple grade 8 bolts, they seem to loosen up over time. I've tried everything, including loc tite and lock washers with no luck. Luckily eastonmade has been awesome to work with and has sent me new push plates each time the inner holes get stripped from broken bolts 👍👍

My Axis is really just a vertical Ultra, as far as splitting goes. At 67 with Bone on bone knees and ruptured discs in my back, I love the log hydraulic log lift. The picaroon allows me to roll the logs to the splitter without too much bending over. Standing straight up while splitting is a joy! And if I have trouble splitting, which is rare, with a crotch, or knarley, knotted, tree serv. wood, I put them aside for the 40 ton County Line splitter, which is set up vertical. I recently sold one of the County Lines, which I had set up for horizontal splitting of the quarters or halves, from the other County line splitter that was set up vertical. I had a swivel stool and I would split the big rounds and spin around and stack them at the horizontal splitter. It worked out very well while waiting patiently for my Axis to arrive, which took 1 year, 2 months, and 20 days to get to Arkansas from Perth Ontario, Canada. The Axis was a real game changer! Thanks for the comparison of the Ultras Guys.

Thanks for the video, one observation I’ve noticed you tend to pick up smaller pieces off the table to split, seems this is an invitation for that piece to have room between the table for your fingers to get pinched as that wood will travel in any direction. Jmo.

I used to think the same thing for years but when I got my Eastonmade Ultra I was very limited on the production and volume that I could produce....I can now make 3 times as much wood faster and much easier....It is not an expense..it is an investment in more production and MORE TIME!

I don’t think I’d want to be 36 again. It’s kinda nice knowing I could retire any time I wish. Work slow and layoffs coming ?? I have a pension to fall back on. It’s not much but I ll get by on it if I have to. The biggest issue with ethanol is its short shelf life. It’s fine in things that get used on a regular basis. It’s bigger problem in seldom used things like boats that only get used a few times a year. I try not to use ethanol in my saws as I only burn a gallon or 2 a year. If I used them everyday I’d use lower cost gas. But that’s just me.
@InTheWoodyard5 ай бұрын
I would give up a lot to be 36 again...that is 26 more years of life for me!!!!

@@InTheWoodyard There’s not much I’d do different if I could go back in time. I remember working a lot of overtime to pay for things I probably didn’t really need in my 30 and 40s. It might be fun to go back to my early 20s knowing what I have learned. It be nice to have some people around that are no longer with us. But I d probably end with a ex wife or 2 if I did that. I am looking forward to the next 25 or so years. Like Clint East Wood said don’t let the old man in.

When its all the same rpm/gpm/psi. the only way to win a speed race is gov screw. Remove screw and they run at about 4,400 not 3,600 LOL The Briggs is 68~ more cc's displacement. With a fuel tank thats 0.4~ liters smaller. Thus the half hour run time difference. . Id personally use a gx 270 or possibly a 240 on one, should it actually need a replacement engine. 0.01c

Chris, I'm a retired firefighter you should know that fire trucks don't just sit in the fire station and get polished! Tax payers pay firefighters to keep that equipment ready to go at a moments notice and when we get called it does get used to save property and lives (maybe yours)! If you did take care of your equipment like firefighters do it might last longer. Careful what you say.
@InTheWoodyard5 ай бұрын
If I kept my equipment in the condition of a fire truck I would never get much work done, I would always be cleaning it. I understand why you cleaned the trucks and I am glad you took care of the trucks my taxes paid for and your wages. It was just a joke and comment that everyone makes about the shiny firetrucks.
