I’m in the Adirondacks and was wondering about the 590, my last saw was a husky 450 Rancher…am I going to be disappointed? Mostly Cherry and Maple here other than Spuce n pine...and oodles of birch.
@thebradleysoncatbirdhill6849Ай бұрын
@DoyleShadduck If you can swing it, I would spend the extra bucks and go for the echo 620. It's got a bigger carburetor, 2 rings on the piston, and I believe an unlimited coil.... definitely more of a professional model than the 590 which is great but still more of a ranch /farm saw.

Just bought a CS-620PW - used it for the first time yesterday...had to go to the 27" bar because of the beast size Silver Maples here on our place...4-5' + diameter trees. It worked great! I'm 74 and not in as great a shape as I'd like but I had no trouble handling this saw...have used an Echo 590 Timber Wolf for years and love that saw as well...this CS-620PW is going to be the go-to saw for the big trunks from now on.

Good to see echo getting deserved recognition. I have an old cs400 and cs600p. I've had them since 08' and 2010 respectively and they both run like brand new (cut 5 chords a year). I’ve got a 620PW wearing a 24” bar and I absolutely love it. It will rip through anything I throw at it. I’ve got a Granburg mill for the 24” bar and use an Oregon ripchain when milling. Swapped my crosscut chain to the 72LPX and it’ll just dig in hard when bucking and chew into the wood with tons of torque. The low end grunt of this saw in the cut just makes an initimitable sound. She’s a total keeper!

I own and use the 7310P and 572XP. The bars and chains interchange and makes comparisons easy. The Echo is built like a tank and I like the "old school" design and feel of it; BUT the Husqvarna leaves it in the dust given fast cutting in big wood. Is there enough difference to make a difference? Depends on your local service provider for each.

I had a Shindaiwa 757. It was a fantastic saw! Would start with 1/2 pull! I got nervous and sold it because it’s been out of production a long time and was worried I wouldn’t be able to get parts at some point. It was my favorite saw and I thought I wouldn’t be able to replace it. Then came the Echo 7310. I’m almost certain it is the modern updated version of my 757. I’ve been saving to get one but I’m 60 now and even though I’m still strong and come in at 250, weight of a saw matters for the first time ever. So this 620 is really looking appealing. I sold my Shindaiwa 488, 757 and gave my son my Stihl 028 Super Farm Boss. So I need to replace my 49cc, 56cc and 74 cc saws with hopefully one saw. The 620 might be it.

The cs 4510 has been my go to for almost five years and was running a stihl ms361 with a .325 bar and chain and was a great saw but this little 4510 with a 18 inch bar and can take a 20 I've used to take down a huge white oak for the neighbors.But after that big of a tree I keep 18 on it Great vids and wisdom. I would love to see someone do a true comparison of the ms251 vs cs 4510 . Fine program Chris. Right about the advantage of pro saws ( and the space ship helmet !😁 ). Good marketing for Echo. For those of us aging, smaller 50cc saws with 16" -20" bars do the job for cutting here for the 6-8 cords/year off the woodlot for heating needs. My Stihl Ms261 plus the smaller limbing and climbing saws ( Husky & Stihl )have worked well as I run into senescence 😢. Stay cool, temps in the 80's-90's are hot for Maine. The Echo 620P will run with, if not better than, a stock 70cc saw once ported. The big differences between the Echo 620P and 590 are the piston, cylinder, carb, and coil. Otherwise there is nothing different as the 620P parts will fit the 590. If someone burns up their 590, can easily replace those parts with 620P parts.

Chris...The more you run an Echo they better they seem. Echo-far less expensive to buy, easier and cheaper to maintain, adjustable carburetor, screw-down oil and gas caps, translucent fuel tank, great separation of fines so air filter stays clean, etc. Only negative is they come pig-rich from the factory and need to be tuned after three-four tanks. Easy to do by pulling the high and low limiter caps with a drywall screw, adjust needle valves, and put the limiters back in place. Or dealer should do it for free!

Of all the reasons why a person would want a full handle rap, probably the most unlikely thing is, a left handed person can sometimes prefer them. The other not so obvious thing is, it provides a little more protection from being a target from anything hitting it or dropping it. . Probably the rarest saws out there are saws that are heated carbs with full raps. They exist, but are very few.

Nice saw but personally just not a fan of the 60cc class saws. If I want to get things done it is a 70cc and up every time. There are several 50cc saws that will hang right in there with most stock 60cc saws,and they are much lighter. I have owned a few different 60cc and they are always just back up saws and get used the very least. The Willow is like Pine...and will make any saw look like a winner!

For the right person a one saw tweener saw in 60cc might make sense, I still prefer 20cc jumps 50-70-90cc 70cc being an all around best pick. maybe in another 5-10yrs I might change my mind as I already avoid the 120cc saws unless absolutely needed.

Not venturing out much miss seeing them play about on the logs, but I also like watching your videos even though I don't cut or use wood, my ex use to cut wood for fire place and used to love the smell of freshly cut wood

I really really wish Echo would make another 90-95 cc saw, I'd buy one tomorrow

Yeah, you own thousands of dollars in Autotune/M-tronic saws that'll be worthless if you try to cut after a nuclear/EMP attack. Gotta think about the 0.001% chance these manual carbs are better, eh.
