I've got a feeling that some, if not most, if the great TV shows are produced or written by creative INTJs. As an INFJ who's had a handful of INTJs in my life, I can see the common patterns between these INTJs I've known and still know and like Dr. House, Castle, Criminal MInds to name a few.

Im def a Creative subtype INTj, and Chaos is not at all a bad choise of word for it . Actully chaotic describes it better as freeflowing suggest you’re more at ease with adapting without stress and dont get stuck on small details , or too many things to consider detailwise as the creativity spits out more ideas in superspeed, and controlmania needs to evaluate all of them to find the optimal choise. you just cant humanly keep up with the tempo of it all and somtimes it escalate tototal war and burnout. The creativity in itself is freeflowing energy but as an intj i often would prefer to be much more in control. I cant force it and it takes its own twists and twurlz . Kindof like a Fractal wich is also chaotic by nature 🙂

I love this! Me as an INTJ male, i experienced being all four of these subtypes during some point in my life and i'm not even close to old age. Still a young adult at his prime. On how i been through them, one half was simply due to inherent temperament, while the other half were born out of necessity because of circumstances i was born into which i had no control over. Naturally speaking, i vibe with the creative subtype the most. The dominant and normalizing subtypes developed from challenging conditions, and the willingness to survive such hardship. Last but definitely not least, the harmonizing subtype simply tends to be an organic progression as i got older by converging or combining bits of elemental qualities from each subtype into a customized medley, which they align with my individual needs, desires (aspirations, goals, ambitions, dreams, etc) and expertise.

I think INTJ'S that are harmonizing subtypes would make great Psychiatrists they can compartmentalized their feelings so that they can be objective so that their client's emotions won't affect them so that they can help solve the problems for their clients . And as you mentioned that this subtype likes one on one interactions.

It's quite funny during my 30 years as Engineering Construction Project Manager it was pure Dominant INTJ - Conceive, develop, finance, build, reward contribution to society........The day I retired I literally flipped into a Creative INTJ taking up Pottery to in 3 years sell my work, took up Electric bass & drums to join a band in 3 years and pursuing many other curiosities . Common theme - Curiosity leads to Passion when goals & purpose are defined that justifies unleashing unlimited resources & autonomy to achieve Mastery.....pure INTJ

We can be creative because the information we absorb isn't just a pile of data, we use it to make connections between this and that, and not just traditional connections. "Normal" people might make a connection between A and B, but we go and make them between A and Q and so on. Started out my self-employment as a personal chef, but now am a self-employed graphic designer, baker, and seamstress. Always learning new things in all 3, and mostly working for/by myself eliminates the need to deal with incompetent people at a workplace. My apartment looks more like a work room than a living space, and that's the way I can organize so many things I like to do, because yes, they ARE paid hobbies. I don't want to become ambitious, either, because then I would have to hire employees, and I would absolutely hate that.

I can say I'm a little bit of everything. When I was in highschool I showed more aspects of a dominant INTJ, as a child I showed more aspects of a creative INTJ, and now, in my 20th, I'm showing the harmonious subtype characteristics more than before. I am so interested in sociology, philosophy, humanities. It's really interesting for me when you said harmonious subtypes tend to freeze in some situations if they haven't developed that specific part. Well, EXACTLY I am like this!!!! I think about things and I plan ahead, and when I'm at that certain situation I already know what to do, however if I haven't thought about that matter, I'll just freeze!!! Thanks for your informative podcast (video). I enjoyed every second of it!

This episode was very informative. In response to the query at the end, I found myself identifying with the normalizing a bit, creative a bit more, but when you hit on harmonizing it lit up all the lights in my head, and I thought, "That's the one!" As for my professional life, my jobs have always been just that. While young, I searched for a career that I could throw myself into and would provide personal fulfillment, but each time I fully invested in a job it turned out to be a disappointment, such that in my stage of life now, I simply work to get paid. I am now looking towards self employment in ethical hacking, and I very much enjoy cultural and political analysis as a hobby.

I mistyped myself as INFJ but it didn't quite fit, especially remembering how I was when I was younger, and my INTP husband was dubious too. Your test came back INTJ but it wasn't until hearing the description of the harmonising subtype that it made sense. I've long felt that I've changed since having my kids and being a stay-at-home mother, and the nurture theory behind subtypes would fit that hypothesis.

Question about the neurotransmitters (NT), you guys have mentioned in each video which NT each subtype likes to chase. Do you think individuals have an innate preference for one/some NTs over others? I think I can isolate the times when I've had a rush of each NT. They all feel good, like for instance, when I'm in a crowd experiencing a thing together with lots of other ppl, maybe I'm getting a lot of seratonin?? It's a good feeling but it's not as pleasurable as when I'm being creative and getting lots of dopamine. A video or info on what exactly "chasing a NT" means and how it could affect subtype in the short- and long-terms would be super interesting! Thanks again for another great video!

I am older and I think I tapped into my dominant quadrant as an executive assistant and chair of a planning commission. I take charge on committees and I’m all business. I tend to tell people I’m not a people person and I’ll let someone else do the nice part. I’m all business and I get the job done. I’m direct and tend to not pay attention to other’s feelings when doing a job. On the other hand, on a personal level, I am an empath and can experience emotion overload because I feel other’s emotions. I feel like I may have parts of all the quadrants. Y’all mentioned that in the talk. Is this possible.

According to Gulenko, DCNH subtypes are measured by the following 3 Polarities of situational behaviors found in his book "64 Types": 1) Under stress and facing a tense challenge: Contact: Actively confronts the danger with vigor and excitement. (Dominant/creative) Distant: Withdraws themselves from confrontation to avoid freezing or losing one's balance to preserve inner control. (Normalizing/harmonizing) 2) Projects and relationships: Terminal: Seeks closure, completes what is started, streamlines, seeks to control one's world. (Dominant/normalizing) Initial: Undertakes and switches easily to a new activity. Predisposition to multitask and be at one with what comes. (Creative/harmonizing) 3) External environmental changes: Connective: Reacts with sensitivity. Agreeable. (Dominant/harmonizing) Ignorative: Pays little attention. Focused on one's own understanding and interests. (Creative/normalizing) Combining these three polarities, we get the following DCNH subtypes: • Contact, terminal, connective - dominant (D) • Contact, initial, ignorative - creative (C) • Distant, terminal, ignorative - normalizing (N) • Distant, initial, connective - harmonizing (H)

As an INTJ, things I noticed from the video. INTJ's make it their goal to project there FI values but do so objectively (Doesn't mingle well with faith based mandated religions). It ends up being a theory-based value system where we can falsely believe in something and gather evidence for it, to find out we wasted a lot of time on something not real. My brother is an INTJ as well and is a normalizing INTJ completely rejects his Ni because a church cult he ended up in. Fe trickster is a BITCH. We can read that some, not all, people have good intentions, However, good intentions are weaponized all over the world. INTJ's once a victim of this, it's hard for us to come back to society again. Long story short, as an INTJ, I couldn't figure out my type because I'm good at everything I do, and I've embraced the fact that if I didn't use my Se, I was going to rot away in a production plant as a shipping and receiving supervisor. I'm also not afraid of people's stupid bullshit anymore, which makes me more tactful an outgoing. But when I'm not working, I'm at home, not doing anything accept listening to videos like this, Graham Hancock, etc. **EDIT** I'm now a public adjuster, it's a very good career for INTJ, matches our Te with perfect precision. The pay is far more than any google search will tell you. It says 80k a year, but it's more like 500k.

This is super- interesting, many thanks for sharing. Could you give us more information about the Harmonising sub- type, please? Value- based ✅✅ Struggling with mundane things ✅ (my brain, whichever way is wired, dies instantaneously with pain of sheer boredom 😄). My mind froze (literally) only very few times in my lifetime and I still struggle when presented with idiocies (I would not even mind cognitive faults if only the end product worked! I can’t stoop lower than this) of such gargantuan proportions that I honestly don’t know what to think or what to do. I’m very serious, this is not a gratuitous hyperbole. Speaking of neural pathways- I just don’t have one similar to those of the person/ people from whom the incomprehensible stupidity emanated. I do struggle. What others call ‘common sense’ is nonsensical. What others call logic is anything but logical. What others call efficiency is anything but. What they call truth and morality are just cynical jokes. It’s like their minds operate within a network of concepts that have lost the real meaning. Observing them, let alone trying to integrate within their realities, is very painful and frustrating. I’ve been in work environments that require me to be a Normalising sub- type. Very low social status jobs within systems run by Se people without any vision, insight, creativity, or ability to really empathise. My mask of Normalising INTJ falls quickly when I need to take action and the real me- Dominant bursts forth with an intensity that, needless to say, repeatedly got me into trouble (‘Who the hell do you think you are?!’ type of reaction from others). Obviously, me being right didn’t matter. At work I must repress the Dominant, but it is my mode. I want results. I know what I’m talking about. And I keep it separate from my private life when I indulged myself in the Creative mode. One thing, though, doesn’t fit. I do believe that hierarchies are natural, but I am not interested in the least in climbing to the top, simply because one has to be extremely stupid to wish to be a manager of a business that is in liquidation. Managing a team of incompetents is not leadership, it’s damage control. I do appreciate I sound arrogant, but it’s true (for me, at least). PS- the observation about being auditive is eerily accurate 😮😃

@@b.e.d.e.m. If you believe that humans are divorced from nature, you’re partially right. Humans are a strange species, worse than monkeys. Human hierarchies are animal hierarchies dressed in whatever clothes. The rhetorical cleverness replaced the brawn, the sticks and the stones (though stoning is still a thing- a spiritual thing, no less and body building is an industry 😄), but the same principles apply. May monkeys forgive my comparison because they only do what animals are supposed to do. All other animals don’t destroy their own environment. Humans are nothing but slightly more cognitively sophisticated monkeys, be them speculating about the immortality of the soul, waging wars, or creating taxonomies. The perverted animal is always inside, piloting the human. It’s not even buried that deeply- scratch the thin coating of ‘civilisation’ and see 🙄😄 So. In my non- specialist opinion, be it patriarchy or matriarchy, the same animal impulses are at play. Survival is the ultimate goal. Give me an example of culturally induced impulses that are not rooted in animal biological basics, please. As for meaning…nothing else than a desperate attempt of the animal to either make the chaos which his cognitive development cursed it with, tolerable, and gain a sense of false control- not dissimilar to a monkey holding a stick to beat/kill other monkeys with or, at least, hit the tree of life in hoping that the banana of redemption and immortality falls down.

Hi! Can I ask why do you consider data analytics as dominant INTJ? Can a normalizing intj be a data analyst? (My case)

Hi Anna. Thank you for the comment. These are trends not absolutes. I think there are a lot of ways it can show up a bit differently as your personal experience reflects. - Joel

Which "laboratory"? Dr. Nardi is antropology professor, not a neuroscientist.

I’ve had people say they think I’m autistic even people who’ve said I’m smart I’m assuming they mean Aspergersesk. Is there a relation between ADHD and and INTJ. I thought I had it but I quit having to do inventory when I switched jobs and it almost was just that task I could not focus on I hated it.

Hi both, I'm sorry to say that as an INTJ I really found it really hard to identify with any of these subtypes (and the careers described). I've listened to it three times now. Still not resonating! However when you talk about INTJ in its most generic form (in other podcasts) I do recognise myself. Is it possible that it's harder for you to put language to the 'variations' for INTJs? I'd love to talk about this!

Considering we’re using Dr Dario Nardi’s language for the subtypes based on his research with EEG scans and combined with Dr Viktor Gulenko’s research in Socionics and Dr Helen Fisher’s work with neurotransmitter/hormone preference theory… 🤷‍♀️ -A

Don’t believe the hype. If u r INTJ don’t get into some job position where you gotta manage a bunch of wind up robots. Best INTJ career is author, artist, consultant, etc. Find a way to get people to pay you to explain how the world actually works. Managing and motivating humans will drive you mad lol.

Curious if there is a way to understand how ADHD could tie into this as ADHD is highly unreliable. Im using personality research to find a career path after my miserable time in the military of 7 years. Hard to know for sure which subtype I am as I feel like I fall into each of them in their own ways. 😪
