My introduction to Myers-Briggs and how learning about yourself can matter in your daily life. Knowing about INTJs and ESTPs has made things easier, smoothed a number of things for me; my wife is an ESTP.

Do you know what is my greatest pleasure, the absolute top notch? Learning that something I know is wrong, just patently false, and everything that stems from that is also wrong. I remember watching Pandora's Promise on Netfilx maybe four to five years ago, and when it was over, I was saying to myself, "Huh! So everything I know about nuclear power and waste, everything I've always been told, is wrong. I never checked because it was a consistent and believable message, and I didn't really care because nuclear fission didn't seem all that interesting with all those drawbacks. Learning that I was wrong was fantastic because it opened up so many doors/possibilities for me to look into. Who knows where something like that will lead as well? It's dangerous though, because occasionally you learn something really cool but you just can't get people to see why they should be dumb struck by it. You can get really jaded. "If it's so great, why isn't this a thing?" "Because the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, and the people are stupid."

That is it. I never had the big picture in the early years of my education that this was a system in place that I had to participate in. My value as a person actually depended upon on it and I couldn't for the life of me see why.

Thank you for this introductory video, kind sir. I recently discovered your channel, and even though I have watched several of your videos, I believed it made the most sense to start commenting with the first video. Also, I am starting here because I always enjoy understanding the purpose behind a channel; the thought behind it, and the intention in beginning it. I value wisdom a great deal, and I see much wisdom here in this place. I have also seen many of your comments in my travels, and I enjoy reading them for the meat each of them contain. I value the INTJ perspective very much, and believe I have much to learn from this type. The inner drive and determination is admirable; thoughts from INTJs inspire many thoughts of my own; and I find the type to be incredibly inspirational in general. We have much in common. I am the same way about knowledge; however, I admire your ability to dig deep into one thing, and thoroughly explore it, as you said. My problem (although I'm not entirely convinced this is a problem) is that I have so many interests, but my mind works in such a way that while I am studying one thing, another one is beckoning me to further study. I find depth in each but only as much as I am interested. I do not necessarily want to know *all* there is to know about a topic. I find one thing in it, obsess over that for a time, and then move on to something else. This can possibly overwhelm some types, especially those who primarily use Te, as I can jump from topic to topic. However, getting to know those who use Te can be very helpful for me in developing and expanding my own thought processes. I enjoy conversing with people who can accept me and understand me, but are different enough in their thought processes to challenge me. I am fascinated with people, and study them intently, which is why I also have an interest in personality typing. However, I have realized since discovering the system, that I am interested in going beyond conversations regarding functions. It's difficult to explain, because I see the value in the detailed understanding of the functions, but I most enjoy observing each type at work. Such as, in your case as an INTJ, what are your interests, and your thoughts, and conclusions regarding your interests? How do you share your conclusions? How do you create? What's your process? I see many such videos fitting this description on this channel, so I will be happily listening to what you have to share with the world. Again, I greatly appreciate the mature perspective. Thank you very much for opening up your thoughts to others in this way. Ping pong ... I would challenge you to a match but must warn you I am fiercely competitive! :)

Welcome. What a great Channel Name you have, Your Never Sleeping Beauty. I like that! Thank you for your kind observations. And thinking minds are always welcome here. I have spent a little time on the functions and nuts and bolts parts of personality but you are right, I am primarily interested in how the rubber meets the road in the INTJ life. I have found it to be a good life, though of course there have been some twists and turns along the way. If I knew long ago, what I know now about who I am and why, it would have made things a bit easier I think. On the other hand there is an amazing line in the Bob Seger song, "Against the Wind" where he was talking about an exceptionally good part of his life now gone, and he sang, "I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then." That has always made me pause and think. I love things that make me think. :-) It has been a while since I played a game of Ping Pong, but I would be happy to take up the challenge. I may be old but I still play to win. (One exception, my granddaughter is one person I will let win, because she rewards me with one of her wonderful hugs. You might be thinking i am being bought off too easily, but you haven't had one of her hugs.)

It was a long time before I actually realized that I do have a thinking mind. It wasn't recognized or fostered in me as a child, and the journey to self-awareness has been a difficult one. Since the floodgates opened (so to speak), it seems all I desire is to have good conversations with like-minded individuals. Because those kinds of people can be difficult to find in real life, the search has opened up here. Ah yes ... Mr. Hindsight. Would it have helped to know? I seem to share your thoughts. To have understood myself better in my younger years could have saved me a lot of heartache, but because of my immaturity, I fear I also could have allowed myself to be defined by four letters. I am more than just four letters. We all are. You are not being bought off too easily at all. I can imagine the joy of a granddaughter's hugs. I can still close my eyes and feel the hugs of my grandfather - they were unforgettable. Grandfathers can be very special people. Mine certainly was. I'm sure you are, too, as I can hear the love for your granddaughter in your words.

There is a song I sing to my wife often. It was written by Mac Davis, and is called Friend, Lover, Woman, Wife. ( www.dwlz.com/Al/audio/Friend_Lover_Woman_Wife.mp3 ) The chorus says, "She's a friend, she's a lover, she's a women, she a wife. She's the answered prayer every lonely man dreams of. She's a temptress, she's a lady, she's the mother of my baby, and I thank God I'm the lucky man she loves." I hope you find such a lady for your own. Of all the things in my life I have chosen to do, marrying my wife is the best, the most worthy, and by far the one that has brought me the most joy. Our "baby" is nearly 41 now, but it doesn't lessen the love I have in my heart when I sing to my lady.

Thank you for sharing that. My INFP cousin has expressed her surprise that I would attempt this channel at all, because it exposes me to "the public" and the scrutiny of others. She would want nothing to do with something like this. And part of me agrees with her completely. We are both introverts who are not happy with a lot of social interaction. Less is more, generally. So, why would I do this to myself? But you have stated the reason very clearly. I want to reach out to others, hopefully early enough in life to be useful to them, and share the problems, and a few successes, that I have had, being who I am, as I found my way through life. In a way, it is my answer to the question, what would I want to share with my younger self, if I had the chance to do so?
@LoveLorienTV
@LoveLorienTV 5 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention that as I am INFP myself! So I understand your cousin’s point of view, talking about our thoughts and feelings in this way may bring a lot of things that triggers our personality type and make as feel miserable. But it is possible for us too, just takes time to open up I guess. I have my own channel and blog but for a long time I preferred to talk about facts and not to mention opinions, just recently I started to introduce things like book or movie reviews and it still feels a little bit too exposing for me. But there are a lot of INFPs who are taking about themselves on their KZbin channels so I’m sure it’s possible. Taking about family members, my father-in-law is INTJ, and that’s another way your channel is helping me so thanks for that too. Our relationship is not bad, but there are times when communication between us gets very frustrating, I’m starring to understand why.

I read once the the reason 1+1=2 took like 64 pages(don't quote the pages, but it was alot) of theory mathatically . Is the why a NT thing ? As a entp I'm terrible for why?I'm like why ,why,why..lol I think intp how ? I think intjs and entps are the hardest for misunderstood, funny we shadow each other, but what makes me sad aren't about people but more, are the loss of Helium, or love of realms creation, I think NTs live in their heads.. have you tried the ennergram ?how did you work with Dottys ti and fe vs te fi..I love estps very similar to entp we share ti fe.. Hope you're well X

When it is impossible to prove beyond any doubt that you yourself exist (I think therefore I am) how do you prove 1 + 1 = 2? We have to cut through all that and just make some assumptions I think. There are so many ways to tackle that. If I have one apple and you give me another apple I have two apples. It seems simple. But in math it's abstractions from start to finish. What is 1? Is it a thing or a description of a thing? And there is the abstract concept of whether 2 is a thing in and of itself, or is it a mashing together of two ones? If you want to play with it, you could probably run out 64 pages. It might be entertaining, but I'm not sure if it would be useful. Maybe, who knows? I'm still hanging in there. Thanks. I hope you are doing well, too.

Gathering knowledge just for the knowledge sake sounded a bit INTP to me. I seem to get excited about topics which directly or indirectly increase my effectiveness.
@INTJIsland
@INTJIsland 6 жыл бұрын
We are closely related. If you watched my Both Te & Ti video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGmzepKfjtGSgqs) you will see that I share some things with the INTP. My introverted Thinking (Ti) and my introverted Sensing (Si) are nearly the same as an INTP. However, my Te and Si are just what an INTJ should have, and my introverted intuition Ni is my function with the largest score, more than twice as large as my extroverted intuition, unlike the INTP. So, I share some things with the INTP, but not all. You are feeding your introverted thinking and I am feeding my introverted intuition. When I am soaking up knowledge it is not directed as it would be to increase my effectiveness. I have no way of knowing what my Ni will be able to use. So, I feed it everything I can. I never wake up in the morning thinking, well today I am going to learn about this particular thing. I get up and the next thing I know I am into some topic I may have never been exposed to before. Now when I was teaching electronics, then I was using my Ti and my excitement was highly directed towards increasing my effectiveness, just like an INTP would do. We do share a lot of things for sure. Thanks for sharing your insights!

I just came across a great video on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boW9eJeAl72roNU I think it is correct. It shows the INTP vs INTJ methods of taking in information and how it is processed by both types and why. I even run into this with my ESTP wife, because she will do something a half dozen times in order to get it right. She is tenacious, and she never gives up, and she accomplishes stuff that I can't believe. But I will take the time to figure it out well enough to do it right the first time. I read the manual and then I know. She just dives in and tries it to see what works and what doesn't. We both get it done, but come at it from different angles. I am her go to guy for answering questions when she gets stuck but that doesn't happen often. I am very intent on saving physical Te energy as they point out in the video, but I pour massive amounts of Ni energy into learning things to form the patterns I use to help to drive my Te. So, the INTP and the INTJ can look very much alike when they are in a library. They both want information, lots of information. We are cousins man. :-)

Rachael Wood: That is cool. I bet that a lot of INJTs bring out that response from others. I have known a few people who seem to love information in a similar manner, but most of them are not INTJs and it is like collecting books, but never reading them. They store the knowledge away but don't use it, sort of like mental pack rats. I go after knowledge because I am suddenly obsessed by a topic, because deep inside I know there is a use for it and I want to be ready. Introverted Intuition is like a hungry beast that needs to be fed copiously and often.

The univers can be infinitely divide into events and events that makes those events. So my existence is equal to the difference between what this univers would have been without me and the actual univers? I don't know why this video made me think that.
@INTJIsland
@INTJIsland 4 жыл бұрын
You triggered a memory for me. I was suddenly reliving this scene from one of my stories where an 11 year old INTJ genius, Staci Colt, is wrestling with Nihilism and discussing it with her father. "This is an interesting question," Staci said. Her brow wrinkled. Her eyes were dark wells as they locked onto Bill's. "Did the past yearn for my existence? Was it there only so that I might exist today? No. Was I in any way necessary to the past? Again no. The past and all but an insignificant portion of the present, as well as nearly all that will be in the future after I am gone, could very well have come about without my existence. I form but a ripple in the ocean, quickly come and quickly gone." I should mention that later on in the discussion Staci found a path to peace and was from that day forward no longer troubled by this issue.

How did this conversation bring her to peace? I'm curious because most humans don't do well emotionally with the idea of nihilism. They brain has intentions so it is very hard for them to considere that the univers doesn't. They need meaning, like '' human mind meaning ''.

All true INTJs are atheists, sorry.

@INTJIsland 5 жыл бұрын
@@dennissmith4393 All generalizations are false, including this one. :-) Have you heard of Sir Isaac Newton? He is one the most amazing INTJs who ever lived. He was a devout Christian. However, it is true is that of all the MBTI types INTJs have the highest percentage of atheists, because we don't like letting authority think for us. We want to walk our own path. That tends to conflict with religious authority demanding that we believe because they say so. So, I agree that all things being equal it is more likely that an INTJ will have no belief in things supernatural, but there are some INTJs who really do believe for reasons that are their own. Cats will not be herded and they will go their own way branching out to cover many views. INTJs will not be boxed, even by the definition of being INTJ. Ni-Te is the original dynamic duo. That combination knows no bounds.
