Look up wetware tech. Artificial brains being combined with AI and powerful computing hardware. We also have fungus robots and there is research on altering the memory of snails. Not the world we want but it's where we are going.

Game is pretty fun, with some pretty based devs too. It's in early access so jank is to be expected. Also, pretty sure you can reduce the UI if you need to.

There's a lot more interiors than I expected. Definite plus. Really liking the atmosphere of this game. The AI has big jank tho. Guess they really released the Early Access much earlier than planned.
