As far i remember the only piece of a lend-lease material you see in the video is a brief clip of a matilda II. The rest that aren't german are all soviet made machines. KV 1, T-34, IL-2, Su-76 and i believe the bomber is either an IL-4 or a SB-2. I'm also really glad we didn't see any T-34-85's as i think this is the battle that led to their development.

You're correct about the machinery. It's a trio of IL-4 in the video (windshield is higher than the fuselage, but my terminology might be wrong).

The song is talking about the battle of Kursk summer 1943 a major turning point in the East for both sides. It was one of the last large scale offensives the Germans were able to mount on the Eastern Front. Using British intelligence gathering the Russians learned of the German plan to attack at Kursk and massed millions of men, thousands of tanks, artillery pieces in reserve. As the Germans attempted to build up they’re forces in anticipation of the attack specifically waiting on Panther medium tanks and Tiger Heavy tanks which were very effective but slow to produce and not made in nearly high enough numbers they inadvertently gave the Russians time to create a extremely sophisticated defense in depth system specifically designed to wear down a German Panzer spearhead. A 190 mile deep network of fortifications, minefields, artillery fire zones and anti-tank strong points the German forces had been lured into a trap they had no hope of escaping. The Soviets regained territory along a 1,200 mile wide front after the battle of Kursk ended.

Im pretty sure you are talking about kursk (the song) and Stalingrad.Stalingrad was the gate of the oil in caucases and Kursk was an obvious and easy victory for axis but the britsih already told the russians about it and everyone knew that they would be attacking there with this they prepared a really good defense and Kursk was the seccond biggest tank battle in ww2.It was the battle of Dubno

This song is based on the battle of Kiev, also known as the biggest tank battle, also if I'm correct those 2 cities are Stalingrad and Moscow, one is the capital and the other one is crucial if Germany wants to take the caucus and is simbolic since Stalin's name is litteraly there

This song is about the Battle of Kursk in 1943-- it was the beginning of the end for the Germans on the eastern front. The Russians used lots of American equipment as we provided them all they needed through the lend-lease program.

This is the biggest tank battle near Kursk and there were no american tank in it.
@aregulargamer1
@aregulargamer1 4 жыл бұрын
@@Webrelaks No american tanks is, maybe... I'm not sure about Kursk specifically, but the Soviets had significant numbers of American tanks and planes, though this was more important in the early war, rather than by Kursk. In the opening stages of Barbarossa, entire Soviet army groups at the border were encircled and wiped out. Like, at one point, there wasn't a single soviet tank left in the Ukraine. So, yeah, lend-lease was important in helping them get as many tanks and guns to the front as possible to contain the advancing germans, at least then. But the really big contribution that lendlease gave was in trains. Like, there were 70% American locomotives and rail cars in the Soviet Union at one point during the war. Maybe more. Not needing to focus on that let the soviets fully re-tool most of their civilian factories to tanks and guns. Zhukov himself said that without lend-lease, the Soviets would not have won the war. It was less of a matter of sending tanks, and more of a matter of sending logistical and industrial equipment, as well as raw materials like rubber, so the Soviets could focus on building tanks, and fighting.
@Webrelaks
@Webrelaks 4 жыл бұрын
@@aregulargamer1 no doubt that bought american equipment helped in war. Russians thank for that. And also no doubt that nazy nad no chances to win. You should know russians to understand that. May be it took more time and more looses, but the result would be the same.

Great content! I really like your Sabaton reactions. I'd suggest any of the many Great songs from the Carolus Rex album, they have both swedish and english versions. Im sure you'll attract many loyal swedish subscribers from reacting to the swedish ones with translated lyrics. The album is about the Great northern war and the swedish king during this period. I hope you'll enjoy it even if it is less relatable than ww2 and other more well known history. Keep up the good work!

the reasion why you saw american TB-8 Avengers (the bomber) is because of the lend lease act, and the USA sent tons of food and equipment over to the soviet union in the end of the war. So much food infact, 30 years after the war, the red army was still eating US canned food.

Even if the German army would've conquered the oilfields in the south of the Soviet union, they were running low on men, so.. their problem of having no fuel for their tanks might've been fixed, but a new problem would've come up relatively soon. they would've lacked the men to run their tanks. The German army was outnumbered by the soviets from day one. They only got so far, because they caught the soviets off guard. If the soviet union would've been prepared for the attack, the war could've ended in.. in like 1942 or 1943.

The "oil cities" as you call them, 1 most likely being Stalingrad. A city with to my knowledge no oil. But Stalingrad was north of the Russian oil fields, and if Stalingrad was captured would of led to the fall of the Russian oil fields.
@skullboy1003
@skullboy1003 4 жыл бұрын
Greed got the germans to attack stalingrad before securing the oil fields. The capture of the city would have had no major impact on the advance to the oil fields. In the original plan the germans didn't even come anywhere near stalingrad and just wanted the oil fields, Stalingrad was a secondary objective after the fields had been seized. Hitler ordered otherwise and the rest is history.

Russia always did scorched earth they never really cared if they lost territory, for example in world war 1 there where a lot of Prussian Commanders that would never dare to lose any territory to the russian because of pride, thats why they had a lot of unnecessary casualties, on the other hand you had a lot of casualties on the russian side aswell since they had to at one point of the war march to the front with outdated or no equipment at all. but that was prevalent through out the first world war outdated tactics and pride of commanders who wouldn´t change there ways ... so many soldiers lost their lives because of that. Fun fact: The kaiser of Germany, The Tzar of Russia and the King of England where blood related and wrote to one another to not start another war before the first world war started
