in 1993, for the 50. anniversary, German TV made a 3 Part Documentary on that topic, being propably the first western TV team allowed to film on side. I know there is an english version from BBC, maybe its still out there on the internet. Its so interesting, cause back then, they had the chance to talk to actual veterans on both sides

It makes you proud, doesn't it? Th clash of the two armies just hit you with the music. The Battle of Prokhorovka was fought on July 12 -43 southeast of Kursk, in the Soviet Union. The engagement was part of the wider Battle of Kursk and occurred when the 5th Guards Tank Army of the Soviet Red Army attacked the II SS-Panzer Corps of the German Waffen-SS in one of the largest tank battles in history. On that day, Germany and Soviet Union combined suffered 350-500 tanks and assault guns destroyed or damaged. Nearly 6.500 soldiers were killed, wounded, or MIA. And over 30 aircrafts destroyed or damaged.

If i dont mistake the German operation for the Kursk region was "Operation Citadel", so when in the song the said that the soviets broke the Citadel, its a nice reference.

@@agpv1975 absolutely correct! Just like the "Typhoon" Phrase in "Defence of Moscow" is based on "Unternehmen Teifun", the planned strike to reach Moscow in late 1941

in fact most of the major losses were on the soviet side, but since the German OKW and esp. Hitler wanted to hold on with "Unternehmen Zitadelle" till the new PzKpfW V Panther and more PzKpfW VI Tiger were at the front, the red army had more than enough time to be prepared and the losses were not that essential than the ones on the German side.

This and i think "Diary of a unknown soldier" its better to go for the sabaton history chapter, but dont react to the song. The first its a instrumental piece and the second some words at the beggining of the disc.
