This is my mom's song. She wanted it at her funeral, we played it. She died at 43 years young. She was an artist. Her name was Tricia, she was my best friend. I’m 16 and I’ve been listening to this kind of music for 3 years. Van Morrison, Eagles, Bob Segar, etc. I hardly meet anyone who listens to this kind of music but I love it. In my mind the song conveys the idea that that life is finite (the ship sailing on its round trip) and must be lived to its fullest ("I want to rock your Gypsy soul"), and an acceptance of its inevitable end ("We will magnificently float into the mystic, when the foghorn blows I will be coming home"). When we get to the end of our lives, the house we had, the cars we drove, the things we possessed won't matter. What will matter, is that you had family and friends and they had you.

I hear and understand the soul you describe. As I too, at 16 in High School lost the one I knew then as I still know today as my Soulmate. I'm 62 now. Ended up marrying a fine woman that I've grown to Love deeply after 38 years. Had and raised 3 children that are individuals to be proud of. A "Wonderous" life they say. My heart is content. But all my life there has been the deep loss and longing for the one I lost. I've been diagnosed with a terminal condition now. And all I'm left with ,as the final grains of sand in the hourglass begin to fall, is "what could it have been". Yes I believe I understand, Mr. Price. I believe I do...This song has been on every cassette tape(then) or personal playlist (now) since that time so long ago. It will be played at my funeral.
@robertlewis18753 жыл бұрын
I know exactly how you feel. It's been almost 20 years since my gypsy soul walked away, taking my shattered heart with her. I guess we had different dictionaries; the definition of "forever", you see. As I lie on my back in bed listening and staring at the ceiling, suddenly I notice I have tears in my ears. Closure is myth...

Cathy R God Bless you dear. My son was taken 12 years ,Today! Iam so deeply sorry for Your pain and sorrow! This is a very VERY Difficult journey to travel. It alters your every fiber! Your reason, Your quality of Life! My son was 38 and gave his life for others. It doesnt make it easier! He left me with his three sons and it has been so hard for them! I wish I could say something to help you but We all must grieve in our own way AND Time! Ive had some rather cold things said from people I would never have thought! I must say you will prbly endure the same. Know that you must go through this ,in what ever way your heart takes you! Find a good support group and if this isnt your cup of tea, it wasnt mine either! I found ONE Person that I could reach out to,That had a true Soul and a genuine heart! She helped me! And I had and have a personal walk with Jesus! I pray you can find comfort in these simple words. This is a private club that you do not want to belong to because the Initiation is far to costly!!! I can see other women AND U KNOW. . . By looking into their eyes! They are one of your club sisters!!? I truely wish there was a way to reach out to you but may these heart felt words bring you some kind of comfort. We are all trying to make it UNTIL . . . We are reunited .God Be with You,Cathy R. Just Carolyn

I learned of this song a few years back. My friend Ron taught me how to play it on the guitar. Three of us would get together and play guitar usually once a week. Ron was a bit of a comedian and dubbed us The 3 stooges. It stuck. This was one of Ron's favourite songs to play. Ron was also an avid boater. He passed away a few months ago from cancer. They played this song at his service. Then the other stooge and I played guitar at his house one last time in memory of him. This was the last song we played. I was very emotional as I played in front of his wife and family and friends. I miss you buddy. I hope you're sailing in the beautiful mystic.

I had this song played at my wedding when were walking out of the church which was 25 year's ago my husband loved it as much as me. Well unfortunately my husband who was my best friend passed away a little over 2years ago. So when I hear it I am flooded with emotions but I know we picked the perfect song for us I can't wait to rock he's Gypsy soul when we meet again. I just felt I had to share how much this song means to me. I hope everyone can have someone as special as my husband was and still is to me. Baby you will always have a place in my heart.

I used to love flying down the highway in my husband's restored (by himself) Li'l Red Express Truck and singing along to the radio while he would grin this huge grin. Whenever this song came on, he would crank it up and look over at me with a "Let 'er rip!" look...and I would. It's been 6 years since I sang this song, but when I fall asleep at night, I'm climbing into the cab of that truck for another ride and the radio is on...

Babe, when I was in foster care, I would have been under 4. God must have done something for my heart. I didn't miss or cry for my Mom. I didn't know it was foster care. To me it was just a lot of fun with a good family. I was there for awhile I think. I found a letter my Mom wrote to my Grandma, a few years back. In it she said, she realized she did love us and want to be our Mom. I never knew until a few years ago.❤
