Unfortunately I can't get the 35x scope until Security Level 4.

@@substatica check the USSR scopes! I believe that is the catagory but there is a Mosin specifc made scope that should be accessible and requires no upgrading or changing to a different mounting bracket.

Yes, I know the mosin scope, but it's so tiny, it's like aiming through a drinking straw.

Definitely don't get the AKM, there's one available for free in the factory map in a loot crate

Is there more than 1 factory location? I took another route accidentally earlier in game and ended up in a factory. Not sure what the name was. Also I got caught out in the tide. I made it to the safe house, the squeaky one, and I was swept by the tide to directly in front of the mist to get back home! Was I lucky or is this what happens when you’re in a safe house?

There are multiple paths to get to the factory map. If you get caught in the tide it will teleport you to a random mist edge of the current map, same as if you walk into the mist where there's no roped path. I think you were just lucky ;) I think there's only one factory, but there may be more areas that look like factories.
