First comment. God is good I have felt so guilty the last few days over shame from sin I committed a few days ago. I have been a Christian for over 20 years but have never experienced Gods grace by accepting it by faith. When I feel guilty and refuse to let it go by not believing God has paid for it, I live in self righteousness and perfectionism. Pride has gotten in the way my whole Christian life of experiencing true forgiveness of God. It’s so simple but so hard to do. When the pain of holding onto my guilty feelings outweighs the desire for trusting in His Grace I won’t experience the freedom I’m ready to let go of my self righteous pride and let it all be about what He did for me. It’s a story about Him Not me Please pray for me to experience trusting Gods Grace and forgiveness and stop beating myself up

We eat chocolate proudly at our church so it is perfectly normal for our kids to not be let’s say athletic. I would not be ashamed of fatness as it is part of being a good Christian to tolerate guilt, and those that are not guilty might not be forgiven and thus might not reach heaven. I myself often have guilty feelings of not enough faith in God but I use this guilt to ask for forgiveness so I can be saved. I don’t think we should try to overcome our guilt but recognise it as part of being a Christian, even if it is difficult to live with. Even if we feel worse with this guilt, it I better to have it and know that we are true Christians. It brings us down, but it brings us together. Together, and down. Only then we can be saved. Being fat, well I’m bot fat to myself but if you choose to identify 558 pounds as fat, then that is your choice, but being like this does make me feel guilt but from my faith I think guilt is not an unholy feeling even if it means pain. It is like turning your cheek when struck as we are taught and deeply a part of our faith of tolerance our sadness and sickliness - including being large. Faith also why I love America 🇺🇸 and we are unique here, we have a responsibility to change the world, and lucky to be an exception in the world - thus we can spread faith to others to help them to tolerate guilt of sin, guilt of leaning away, and guilt of eating chocolate. This brings Christians together and Jesus accepts you too, so if you feel guilty for chocolate, or guilt ou about anything, think about your faith firstly rather than trying to solve the problem. Under god we accept, we give in to our weakness, we don’t try to change our weaknesses.

For me its a fear of not wanting to loose or let go of the teachings that helped usher me from a spiritual death to the day my soul was 'Saved'❤(that passion is even greater now after witnessing his retirement)❤

Hello, I used to think we have to forgive ourselves too, but ive recently learned this actually not biblical...only God can forgive sin. I think the important distinction to make is learning to let of the past and receiving God's grace and forgiveness--not so much forgiving ourselves. This notion is more from secular psychology that has infiltrated the church. Psalms 51: David says he sinned against God and only God. The work of the cross is complete. We cannot add anything to atonement. Amen, Christ HAS forgiven us! And it is finished. :)
@godsgracefyp3 жыл бұрын
@@amys379 Hi Amy, fyi: The following verse is how Jesus taught us to pray to Heavenly Father: And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. Matthew 6:12 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 Sometimes our enemies are ourselves. So, same logic applies. God Bless! :)

I have this sin of lying that I did a few months ago, and I just said sorry to the Lord and was planning to bury it in my memory, when the person who I lied to asked the same question to me again recently. I couldn't bear repeating my lie and so I told that what I said before was a lie, and now that person is hurting because of my lie. As well as me, knowing that I made the wrong decision before and now it's causing another person's hurt. We've talked about it a few times now, I already said I'm sorry for the wrong that I did, and that person told me that they're forgiving me for my wrong as they process the hurt it caused them. Of course I wholeheartedly accepted the forgiveness, but my feelings of guilt still remain. Now I'm scavenging the internet for Biblical ways of dealing with guilt, and so I stumbled on this preaching. Just needed to tell this story, thank you for reading this. Please pray that God restores the person I hurt as well as me so I can continue ministering for God effectively without the burden of this guilt.
@InTouchMinistries7 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing and thank you for the bravery of being honest with that person, even in the hurt that it caused. You honestly opened the door for true healing and restoration between you, even if it takes some time to work through the hurt. It is also brave to share your story, and I hope that it encourages others to find restoration with people in their lives, even if it means going through a temporary valley. Know, though, that valley's do not last for forever and that God sees us through them. As Christ's sacrifice allows God to forgive us, we can also forgive ourselves and be restored too. Praying for you!

Momentary or lingering feelings of guilt could come from other sources as well. Some, including a few elucidated here, I also have struggled with sometimes. But they could be too myriad to be covered in one sermon. Nevertheless, Dr. Stanley is one of the best elucidator of Biblical perspective, in daily life situations, that I have come across. Such insight as he has comes from a deep engagement with not just God's word but primarily from coming out stronger through life's trials and tribulations.
