Did you decide to stop going to the hospital or what did you do? I really don’t want to have my baby early but they gave me a steroid shot I didn’t really want to get to help the baby’s lungs mature. And I have to go for another booster I’m the morning. Andy the baby is 5 weeks behind in gestational age and I’m the ultrasound there’s a resistance of blood flow going through to the umbilical cord

My son stopped Developing and growing when I was 34 weeks pregnant. They told me something similar, that maybe something died early (I don't think they said it was my placenta tho). I had my labor induced because of it at 38 weeks I think (might of been 36 weeks, I can't remember). I never heard this term before either. I was only told he stopped developing at 34 weeks and needed to have him asap so he could continue to grow and be healthy. They said they don't know why this happens but it happens all the time so I shouldn't worry. Crazy that I'm just learning the name of it 10 years later.

@@honeybunch0128 it's better to have your baby as soon as possible rather than waiting. If you just stop going to the hospital you could loose the life of your child. Something is preventing them from growing and developing wich is not good. I had this happen to my son but he stopped developing at 34 weeks. They didn't give steroids because they checked his lungs in an ultrasound and said they were working already. When he was born he did have breathing issues. He stopped breathing twice but started breathing on his own again with no help after a few seconds(normal for any baby) and then he was breathing way too fast and they were worried he would wear his lungs out if it continued too long. He ended up being fine though and we went home after a week. Please don't avoid the hospital tho. You could regret it. Your baby isn't getting the right nutrients. Once baby is born you can breast feed or bottle feed and they will get healthy in no time. But keeping baby inside you will cause way more issues. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby, with both of my earlier pregnancies my water broke naturally 12 days before my due date and both were vaginal births. Both also measured "small" at 36 weeks but delivered 3.3kg and 3.2kg respectively. I just had my 36 week scan and again my baby measured "small" and I am on track to have another 38 week birth. I am not concerned and neither are my midwives, but the OBGYN who has hardly seen me at all is concerned because she is not taking my birth history into account, or the fact myself and both sisters were all smaller babies. She is stressing me out with her fear mongering, but all testing I've had is normal and both my weight gain and baby's weight gain are steady.

I have this. My parents are 5’4” and 6’1”, I was 4’11” until 29 when I grew an inch. My siblings are all over 5’4”.

My son is 3 diagnosed IUGR at 26-28 weeks gestation. My doctor told us that he would probably have a disability... Everything looked perfect except his small stature.. My son has been diagnosed with autism. I felt like it's never been fully assessed or explained what really happened. He's caught up weight wise but is a little on the shorter side. Otherwise no complaints but I would like to understand the condition more

I understand this totally! My 9 yr old son has a severe learning disability & I feel like I could more info, a diagnosis, anything more... they say there is no more info. , bs . I’ve learned more on my own , then with them. Bless you & your son:)

I had IUGR with both my babies and never had to deliver them via cesarean. Had a natural vaginally birth with both. Granted I bled out after delivering my daughter. I was flatlined for almost 2 minutes and had to have a transfusion. Both my son and daughter (3.5 years apart) were born via induction at 37 weeks and when I went in both times for my induction I had already started active labor. Both were 4lbs 14oz and lost a hefty bit of birth weight. My son was in the NICU for a month but my daughter went to the regular nursery. She came home with me 3 days after birth. I was the one with her that had to be monitored. Otherwise we could've taken her home the same day. I was told not to have anymore kids. I'm just not built for it after certain medical things that I went through in my early childhood.

My last 4 pregnancies have been iugr born at 37 wks and only 4-5 pounds. The reasoning is that I had a miscarriage after my first kid and to stop bleeding they had to do a partial oblation and burn off the inside of part of my uterus. Now the placenta can't take up as much real estate as it needs to, to support growth after a certain gestational age. I'm pregnant with my 6th baby now and he is only at the 7th percentile at 34 wks. I get another growth ultrasound tomorrow and hope that he has grown enough that they won't take him before 37 wks. I'm quite nervous about it.

I’m 25 week , on 20th week scan fetal femur bone was below 5th centile . Repeating scan after 2 weeks showed below 3rd centile. Sent me to fetal medicine where consultant did scan of all bones and run blood tests . Torch test for infections was negative. Over all fetus is below 3rd centile. She said it could be due to my genes though I’m 5.2 ! I was born healthy. My husband is tall and 2 kids were normal and healthy. ** i have hashimoto thyroiditis.( very high antitpo antibodies) I’m on asprin. ** non celiac wheat sensitivity. On partial gluten free diet Drs say can’t do anything so have to wait and watch the growth of fetus.

Can an IUGR fetus be treated medically? I understand this depends on the cause, but can you treat it for any of the causes? How long can the doctors delay an anatomy ultrasound to diagnose such a cause that can be treated?

they may have delay development but they have normal after 2 years usually unless they have other complication or condition due to IUGR

Im worried i jsut got told my baby is in the 5th percentile and im 22 weeks. He said it coukd be that my dates are wrong but i have to go back in 3 weeks to see how baby is growing. I lost a previous baby and i had the samething growth restrictions due to my anterior placenta. I lost him at 26 weeks he was small like 23 weeks 😢

I started to get sick at 31 weeks gestation and stayed in hospital for 7 weeks. I had a placenta insufficiency and preeclampsia that was not well controlled, that was in 1995. My blood group was different to my babys and had a needle to stop this happening in my next pregnancy,she was born via emergency c section after they tried to bring my labour on, her heart wasnt coping so out she came all 4 pounds of her, IUGR, skinny big belly big head is now a history buff with vision problems and alot of mental health issues. She now has an autistic 3 yr old son , and a little girl. I thank god she is ok. Doctor said my placenta was so calcified probably half way thru pregnancy and she stoped putting on weight at 31 weeks gestation.

I when into labor at 37 weeks. My son was 4 pounds and 7 ounces. He had cerebral palsy because he had bleeding of the brain .he had to stay in the hospital for a month. No one told me he had iugr until he was three years old.

I have been diagnosed with IUGR in 2 previous pregnancies so I was looking for ways to avoid it this time around. I like that you listed out the reasons bc my parinatologist hadn't taken the time to really educate me on it and surprisingly there aren't alot of medical videos on it. But both of my boys were born with genetic abnormalities. One has 4 chromosome 15s and the other has 3 chromosome 5s. So it seams like I can't really do much to prevent it and I can stop stressing put about it possibly happening again. My 1st had a genetic test at 8 mo ths due to epilepsy and my 2nd had genetic testing after birth. I am 15 weeks pregnant with another boy. I had identical twins but we lost one early on. This is pregnancy #6 for me and the other 3 pregnancies were fine.

At 30 weeks would overall growth in the 3% range and abdominal growth in the 1% range need some type of pediatric neonatal specialist intervention versus just seeing a regular doctor.

My wife is at 33 weeks and our baby to be has IUGR. Her head is in the 18th percentile but the rest of her body is 3rd percentile or less. The docs in South Carolina wont say much and it drives me nuts.

(Chrosome defect rules out by amniocentesis) We are at 25w now, the umbilical cord resistance is high, so we are told to scan every week and be ready for anything anytime. Been feeling helpless because no one else I know has gone through exactly this. Any help much appreciated.

My son is also in the 3rd percentile and I’m going on 31 weeks tomorrow. I am so scared and so anxious because I know very little. I was told that he looks healthy, there were no issues when they ran the blood tests on me. I have a fibroid and low laying placenta (previa)… so I don’t know if this is causing issues or if it’s because I have gestational diabetes but I’m so heartbroken. I feel so guilty. I’ve always been around the 10th percentile but at my 32 week visit, the doctor had me do a scan out of concern & say that I dropped to the 5th percentile. My baby was weighing 3 weeks behind gestational age as well and I am pretty concerned and just worried
