This might be the most accurate explanation given by a non-native I've ever seen! it's funny how - though the gestures are correct - I can still detect some kind of "foreign accent" :D

What does the gesture where a guy (in this case) puts his hands under his armpits and flaps his arms like chicken wings...I'm SURE it must be obscene! I can't find it anywhere! But, I've seen it!

I must say that the second gesture is not really used ( at least in Northern Italy). About the horn gesture, you can also point it horizontally or upwards since it depends on the context ( luck or cheating meaning)

Brava Michele. Some gestures I myself never even use !!! One small thing, if I may, in case you redo this in the future. in " ti faccio un culo cosi` " it can also be a reflective, non-threatening expression to say " I / he / she worked so incredibly for this / that ! "

As a "cultural Italian" but not a "national Italian" I found this video particularly interesting and entertaining. Some of your gestures I am familiar with from my youth ... but the majority of them I've never seen before. I must acquire all of these into my vocabulary. My father's side of the family came from Calabria and Sicily ... any gestures I already know came from them. My mother's side however, came from Northern Italy and they did not use gestures at all. Curious. Thanks for another great video.

I can’t believe my niece thought the first symbol was supposed to be a compliment to a Chef or something REALY Goood!! 😅😅😅😅 I already knew that was wrong and told her to Liston to Native or well educated Italian speakers to get proper definitions and to watch your video. I also told her that if she did the first pinecomb gesture to a Chef after a meal she would UTTERLY insult them 😂

Hand gestures didn't come around after the fall of the Roman Empire, we spoke different languages well before that. The south of Italia, like Calabria per esempio, never spoke Latin, we spoke Greek. Standardised Italian, and Italic languages, didn't spread until well after. Hand gestures were not an introduction to solve a language issue, they are simply cultural.

Forse a Roma. E neanche tanti altri gesti. (What ??) Quindi : Che cosa ?

@ilefab4545
