So some thoughts on the Spider Riders. First they aren't sacred so they won't take your bless, but what they can do is attempt to combo their Web attacks with Venemous Fangs which has a Death Poison. Poison can now give up to 50% stat debuffs, so a group of these fairly fast Machakan cavalry can absolutely kill with strength buffs to help them secure kills.

The Dom 4 tutorial walked you through a few turns as EA Machaka which means the nation has always had a place in my heart. If I was a better player I'd probably play them a lot

I actually like the spider rider as a support web spit unit, but the rider gets picked off really easily against enemy archers. The bird archer is worth considering because of the higher bow damage - the poison arrow buff only works when you scratch the thing you hit. Pygmies are still better for flaming arrows so it's a small niche, but relevant against foes with fire resistant troops (Abysia, Muspelheim, Pyrene).

That niche is probably bigger than just flame resistant or immune nations since bird clan + poison can give that half stat debuff on tough stuff like giants (if you are desperate) to make it easier for Lion warriors to bash their brains out.

It is indeed spritform that stops you from doing protection buffs not ethereal (it is just that most of the ethereal units in the game now also have spritform)

The thing that Lion Clan have over Rhino is mapmove. Edit: The 1 more att and morale is more than made up for by formation fighter and 1 Str.

I think both Machakas are much better in Dom6 than they were in Dom5. Glamour is very good and Machaka has great crosspaths with it. I didn't really like Spider Clan Sorcerers in the past but now they're very useful. Also tight rein's great. There's so many otherwise good units that are undisciplined. Fire drakes are much better when you can give them commands, but there are indies too that may suddenly be worth recruiting when you have tight rein.

Yeah, they could really stand to differentiate the Lion Clan dudes a bit more from the rest. They're supposed to be elite, so they could very well stand to get an extra point or two in their combat stats to stand out a bit

17:22 Second Sun is F8. There is Ordeal by Fire. It's F6S6 and basically a Fire version of Astral corruption. Everything using gems causes mages to take AN fire damage scaling with the amount of gems. It also sets you on fire if you use gems in combat. The Kindly Ones are F6N4 17:44 Remote site searching for astral? 19:30 Hard to forge with no hands. 20:09 Oh, misfortune? Living in interesting times I see. 22:56 N2 can cast "Enlarge", so that might push some of your sacreds into "one per tile" territory when your nature mages go offscript. Shouldn't be too much of an issue though.

@@IWantThatKey Someone in the steam forum mentioned the blessing not stacking with the spell. They reported it as a bug. So I don't know exactly if it's supposed to stack.

I love Lion Warriors because they're basically mythical Heracles, but as a unit. So I can make my own Heracles Corps and crush enemies under a tide of burly club-men wearing magical lions cloaks. Its great.

i was told 6 armor protection with 18 invulnerability ends up being effectively around 21 protection against regular hits, but i've no idea how it works personally.

Invulnerability is natural protection that only works against non-magical attacks. So it stacks with armour the same way that natural protection does. Multiple sources of invulnerability don't stack, instead the highest value is used. And obviously invulnerability is only used if it's higher than natural protection.

Elephants are nice for a very niche period, if you can tag them with Body Ethereal. But their utility falls off quickly, and they're damn expensive. edit: So yeah, without S access on Machaka they never really shine

Elephants can also be good for early expansion, but with also having lions and/or spider riders to do flanking attacks I am not sure I would use them.

yeah the way blesses work has changed in Dominions 6. every level of magic above 1 just gives you a generic bless point to spend on anything you have the paths for.
