Correction: Peeking does not give away your position to enemies, and does take a couple of seconds (a little more time than just stepping into the space). This is pretty poorly indicated in the game, and because sound and scent can give away your position too it can give the impression that you've been seen when peeking. Thanks to Otto von Bismarck for pointing out my mistake.

You know a game is kinda complex when you need a 15 minute tutorial on how to look around

My original plan was to keep these under 10 minutes, but Cataclysm has a lot of slightly different ways to do roughly the same thing and they're mostly all useful so... now I'm just hoping the videos stay this side of 20 minutes. It's a ludicrously complex game.

10:47 Peeking takes about 2 seconds and does not give away your position. ^-^

Really? … I’m gonna have to do some testing. I’ll make sure I get the right info into a later video about combat. Or maybe even a correction in the next video-I’ve not recorded it yet and there’s a couple of other things I forgot to mention here too.

You know if theres a way to look down without peeking at the corner a roof? I've saw some people doing it in videos, there's the experimental 3d view serting but that pretty much let you completly exposed in rooftops

I don't think there's a way to do it without the experimental 3D view, except to peek from the roof edge. It does leave you very exposed on rooftops, but I would recommend giving the setting a try if you haven't. The trade-offs are pretty favourable if you ask me. The way to do it with experimental 3D vision is to enter lookaround mode on `x` and you can use `` in that mode to look up and down (the same buttons you use to go up and down stairs or ladders). One huge advantage of the 3D vision mode is being able to attack enemies on different levels. So even if zombies can see you on a rooftop, if you have a decent weapon with reach you can actually attack them without them being able to get to you... just be careful of flying enemies and grabbers. But sorry, yeah, I don't think there's a way to do it without that setting. I do highly recommend the setting though - I haven't turned it off since I started using it personally.
