Loved this! Can you do a Beginner's Rider video? I recently aquired a sweet American Saddlebred and am working on bonding with him by feeding, brushing and talking to him when I can. Is there more that I can do? Any tips for beginner riders?

Congratulations on your new horse! How exciting! 😃😃 We were actually working on a video about where to start with getting into riding and new horse care. What you are doing are great ways to bond with him-grooming/brushing are good for building a relationship on the ground before riding. Try to find what he likes, does he like scratches, does he like treats, does he like for you to pet him in a particular spot, whatever it is try to find as many things as you can because he will associate good things with you which will help the bonding process. Take your time and enjoy the process. As for riding, we would suggest you become as knowledgeable as you can about horses, horse behavior, horse health and the type of riding that you would like to do with your horse. A good place to start is good books, like the Horse Bible. Then with the knowledge and understanding you have gained, you will have some direction in what to look for in a horse professional/trainer to help you with riding. If you need suggestions for a trainer in your area to get you in the saddle, you could ask your vet or at your local feed store for suggestions because they come in contact with horse people all the time and can tell you who they know that has a good reputation. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! 🙂🙂💜💙

Nice video, can you do a video on riding without using a bit?
@SistersHorsingAround3 жыл бұрын
We sure can! That is a great video suggestion! When we started riding, we actually rode bitless. We learned to ride with just lead ropes and a halter. And our first horse was an older mare that did not like a bit. We rode her in a hackamore. Will definitely do a video on that! 👍🏾👍🏾
